Is Complex doing Top 25 of a certain year per week? Because this is quite random. But this list needs way more tracks from Sign '0' The Times

It's part of Consequence of Sound's Decades series. They've previously done lists of the best songs and albums of 2007 and 1997, and they also did a 1987 albums list. I'm guessing they're gonna do the same for 1977 and 1967, although I don't know how many albums/songs they're gonna think of for those.

All the CoS lists are eligible, but Henrik wouldn't add it until the update after this one.

Really? That Starship song - the apotheosis of their we-built-this-shitty era - being named one of the 25 best of anything isn't a surprise?

Twenty years prior, the band that devolved into this recorded "Somebody to Love," "White Rabbit," and "Today." In 1987, they went to #1 with the theme song for a barely-veiled blowup-doll teenage sex fantasy movie. Moral of the story: don't do drugs, kids - they cost money, which leads you to do indefensible things.

...I kinda like that one. It's way better than We Built This City.

I could add that the album that comes with the song, No Protection, is a staple of the rare "best AOR albums of all time" lists I've come across, but I'm not sure I'd be doing the song or the album a favour.
