Re: Greatest movie soundtrack lists (Rolling Stone/NME, etc.)
It isn't? How much of the music was written specifically for the film?Pierre wrote:StevieFan13 wrote: Various Artists - Pretty in Pink (1986) [compilation]

Got it! I just wish I knew which soundtracks were eligible and which ones weren't (I'm 99% positive that one of the most famous ones here, Pulp Fiction, isn't eligible).Pierre wrote:1. Yeah, Pulp Fiction isn't . Other famous cases are Trainspotting, Easy Rider or American Graffiti. Another interesting case was The Harder They Come, which was featured on AM for years before Henrik finally decided some time ago that it was ineligible and took it out (it's very rare when Henrik deletes entries entirely from the website)...StevieFan13 wrote: Got it! More generally, various artists albums are always a chore. During the time I've spent working on lists for the spreadsheet I've run into a lot of compilation "samplers" of national scenes, newly-established labels or subchapels of metal, punk or reggae for instance; the only way to confirm their eligibility was to check track-by-track if the songs were released before... Thankfully, Discogs has become a wonderful tool for that.

I think The Harder They Come should be added back. If Saturday Night Fever is on the site, which is featured on best album lists about as often (if not more than) Harder They Come, it shouldn't be left out.Pierre wrote:Yeah, Pulp Fiction isn't . Re: Greatest movie soundtrack lists (Rolling Stone/NME, etc.)
That’s a good idea, but perhaps under OTHER CATEGORIES instead (although soundtracks are a RYM genre). I need to think about it.

https://www.acclaimedmusic.net/genre/genre1596.htm we have them also in AM , perhaps under OTHER CATEGORIES is a better option

I think it’s a descriptor rather than a genre.
