comment: This ranking is awful except for the top spot. Six Chinese Democracy songs in the top 40, really SPIN?! They have oddball choices too in the top 10 ("The Garden", "Better", "Locomotive" and "Nightrain" is great but No. 3?). As usual, a popular and acclaimed song is given a low position as argument bait (in the Smashing Pumpkins' list it was "Disarm") and here it's "Paradise City".

Oh well, this time I am strongly disagreeing with the "low position as argument bait". But once again, maybe I am not the best judge because for me Paradise City is pretty much the only GNR song of any value. But come on, Paradise City at 41 and November Rain as number 2? I am shocked and disappointed, honestly

Your statements are contradicting each other (I am strongly disagreeing with the "low position as argument bait"... Paradise City is pretty much the only GNR song of any value). To expound why I made such comment, "Paradise City" is the third most acclaimed GNR song on AM and here it's No. 41. The second ("Welcome to the Jungle") and the most acclaimed GNR song ("Sweet Child o' Mine") on AM are in the top 5.

I know these lists love to seem different by not putting the obvious songs where they should be, but there is no (good) argument for "Sweet Child O' Mine" not being #1. It's not only THE signature GNR song, it's one of the biggest songs of the 80s. I may be slightly biased because it's also my favorite songs of all time, but give me a break. "Locomotive" is annoying, "November Rain" is over the top, and "Welcome to the Jungle" way overrated. I love "Nightrain" though (but it still has no business being ahead of "Sweet Child O' Mine").

Also, I feel like every song on "Appetite For Destruction" should be ahead of every song on "Chinese Democracy" just out of principle.
