✅ Ultimate classic rock decade lists

The website Ultimate Classic Rock has lists of 100 albums from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/classic-rock-lists/

They are, however, presented as photo galleries rather than as lists. Who wants to click 100 times to see the albums, with no possibility to get an overlook of the list? Complex and maybe others as well are doing the same thing. Why? Boo!

Anyway I'm thinking about adding these lists, so if someone would like to type down the albums here that would be super.

I'll do it later today (a bit busy right now). Although a list which omits MBV's "Loveless" is bound to annoy me but it might not be classic rock enough for some tastes...

What makes this site different from Complex. I didn't see any reviews on that site which was one of your(Henrik) criteria for why you wouldn't add some of the Complex lists I and others suggested. I don't think this is any different than Complex so why add this if you aren't going to add the Complex lists. So sick of the double standard. Just because this is a list with rock albums doesn't make it more worthy. I don't feel this should added unless you are going to add lists from Complex as well. This was your explanation for not including 'EOY 2014 Complex's 50 Best Albums of 2014' viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2408

The reviews criterion is perhaps most important for songs lists, as there are a lot of entertainment/music news sites that lists the top songs of the year. Those lists are basically the bestselling singles.

Buried this (sorry bootsy!) but valid point is valid, even if it's told with the diplomatic skills of a chainsaw. If it's valid.

Besides, now that I've written them down, I have to say that I don't like those lists.

Yes, I consider Ultimate Classic Rock similar to Complex, so I won't add EOY lists from this site either (as they don't write album reviews). I do however add other kind of lists from both sites. I already have included decade lists from Complex, and both sites already have best-of-artist lists on AM.

I use the EOY criteria for the end of 2000s decade lists as well (these Complex are on the critics' lists page, but should be removed). I decided to use the stricter criteria, since there were so many lists coming out at the same time, and I don't want AM's lists to be too much stuck with the opinion that was around that time. However, Complex presented their "Complex decade" (2002-2012) lists soon thereafter, and I included them so this isn't much of an issue anyway.

Even when using these rules, there are over 100 albums lists. I know it doesn't make perfect sense to include some Complex lists and some not, but this is the best solution I have come up with.

The reviews criterion is perhaps most important for songs lists, as there are a lot of entertainment/music news sites that lists the top songs of the year. Those lists are basically the bestselling singles.

Well I guess I don't really get this. Whether it's an EOY list or decade list, if you are going to include Complex for certain criteria and this site for certain criteria why not just go all the way one way or the other. It doesn't make much sense to me to include these lists because it is not EOY. I just don't understand how you include some Complex lists but not others if they don't write reviews because it is EOY vs. decade. So confusing.

That's because the number of EOY lists exploded about five years ago. It became too much work for Harold and everyone who helped me with EOY spreadsheets. It also felt necessary because the main publications got buried in the mass. Complex is perhaps the biggest publication that is not included, but they don't write reviews so how much critics are they?

On the other hand, should I use decade lists from sources that don't review albums? Yes, I think they add value to AM. It is still recommendations from people who work with music.

So, why this shouldn't be included on AM?

You got me confused there for a while. I thought maybe they did three decade lists within three years' time. But...

"This feature was originally published on December 2, 2009"

So this is the list that I removed because I use the EOY criteria for EOD lists that came out in the end of 2009 or beginning of 2010.

Have these already been added to the spreadsheets? I'm guessing yes, but I just want to be sure.

Yup. 60s and 70s are mentioned in the list of lists Henrik added himself in the Help Wanted! thread, while the 80s and 90s are in the other spreadsheet I talked to you about.

Gotcha. One less group to worry about. The individual year lists, I'm still working on. (The real slog at this point are the Radio X lists, which involve adding a lot of more recent albums).
