With the exception of "Low", which is inexcusably terrible, this is a pretty solid list that really captures the best mainstream rap of the decade.

Good list.
Don't get mad, but I like "Low".

Love both, but hip hop? Well, I can see the hip-hop influences in WBT, but "Fallin" has gospel/soul influences. I don't think these are hip-hop songs.24. "We Belong Together" - Mariah Carey
17. "Fallin" - Alicia Keys
Both are r&b songs.
Re: DJBooth Top 25 Hip-Hop Songs of the 2000s
Seriously, at "Low" appearing? I guess it's catchy, but it's so disposable.
Never got into "In Da Club" either.

Decent list. Not sure what Alicia Keys, Mariah, and Rihanna are doing on this list.
Re: DJBooth Top 25 Hip-Hop Songs of the 2000s
Why do you question those 3 and not Beyonce?
I assume the inclusion of those songs has to do with how blurry the lines have become between R&B and hip-hop. Hip-hop is just as much about the rhythm and production as it is rap.

I did not like this list. Looks like a popularity list made by a mainstream music radio station. Maybe it's my taste, I do not know.

I just named those 3 off the top. Beyonce doesn't belong either.fionalive wrote:Why do you question those 3 and not Beyonce?

Re: DJBooth Top 25 Hip-Hop Songs of the 2000s
From the intro:
"Measurements: It would have been too easy to simply copy the Billboard charts for our list, or to dismiss a song just because it was popular. So we factored in chart performance, artistic merit and the song's influence on the music industry as whole."
I think this makes the list ineligible. It seems like they're after some objective criteria rather than what they thought were the best songs. I mean, if it really was a list of their favorite songs, wouldn't it have made more sense to say that the only thing that mattered was how much they liked the songs, not the chart performance?
DJBooth are not alone in listing "historically important" songs. Influence is one of the most important factors for many critics, but when "chart performance" is mentioned then it's not ok. It's because when I created the site I saw it as an alternative to the sales charts.

I was getting ready to say. How could this be eligible and the Complex lists not based on your criteria of it not being a site that posts reviews and things like that. This is a very similar site to complex. However I feel like this list like complex should be eligible like Complex.Henrik wrote:From the intro:
