BPM - Best Tracks of the Last 5 Years

Post by Jackson »

For BPM's 5th anniversary they're publishing lists of the top tracks, albums, EPs since the site's inception.

The top 100 songs list is up now. Deerhunter's "Nothing Ever Happened" is number 1.

1) Deerhunter - Nothing Ever Happened

I think there might be a "one track per album" rule but there's nothing specified. Very few artists are in there more than once, so Bradford Cox with 2 Deerhunter and 1 Atlas Sound songs, all in the top 12 and including the #1 is the clear winner there !

I'm quite happy with many of the inclusions here, especially Andy Stott's Numb and Four Tet's Love Cry (for me one of the 5 best songs of the past 5 years not to be included in AM 3000)
Surprised to see Dream House that high but can't complain !
And it still seems that there isn't a clear consensus about which This Is Happening songs is the best, there are 4 songs in there that seems to appear on various lists, quite a heavy vote splitting here.

Also, no big surprise on which is the #1 EP !

Nassim - you are indeed correct. No artist was allowed more than one song per release, with a cap of three releases in total per list.

so, 3 tracks were allowed split across different projects or taken from different albums and a maximum of 3 albums & EPs were allowed by any one artist. this was my ruling as I wanted things to be as varied as possible, so all 25-odd voters adhered to it
