Someone said in Pitchfork’s albums of decade thread that the list didn’t represent their experience of what was best in the decade at all.

This list - aside from the industry wide obliviousness to Hadestown, and the continued but dishonest ghosting Of Sun Kil Moon and Swans, comes pretty close to capturing a lot of the best of the decade as I experienced - though I don’t know how any site leaves off The Epic.

Love Courtney Barnett as high as she is - it’s definitely a top 10-15 effort on the decade to my ears

Paste only gave Benji 6.8 when it came out. I know opinions can shift over time, but I don't think they were very big fans to start with.

Wow there is not a single electronic album on this list. I know it's Paste but seriously!?!

Emotion is one of the biggest winners of these early lists. It's interesting how much of a grower that's been for critics (and me, coincidentally), and I'm sure it's at least in part because CRJ has followed it up so well in her subsequent singles/albums.

Ctrl by SZA is fine, but I fail to see why it is so highly regarded. Meanwhile, the absolutely brilliant Pull My Hair Back by Jessy Lanza should get all the accolade for being one of the most inventive and catchiest R&B albums of the decade.

Same with ANTI by Rihanna. It is a very good album but better than self-titled by Beyonce? No way.
