The ORBI album is a bit of a hybrid between classical and pop and I don't know as which you would count it, but I decided not to give it an asterisk. I'm listening to that album as we speak (hadn't heard of it) and strongly recommend it. It is a stunning reinvention of pop songs (mostly prog and metal), in classical terms.

I always like the yearly album by De Volkskrant, not so much because I agree with everything, but because it casts it's nets so wide across the whole spectrum of music. I've decried it before, but yearly I feel more that most publications just chose the biggest releases with the biggest publicity as put forth by mayor labels, which makes lists as this one, the one by AllMusic or those by Popmatters extra valuable.
