It took me a while to give this album a chance because I think Definitely Maybe is bit meh, but after three listens I have to conclude that this is a quantum leap forward for Oasis. When you take away Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, which are both so engrained in the collective consciousness that attributions like good or bad lost all their meaning, the untitled interludes, the average Hello and Roll with It and the sub-par She's Electric, you end up with an album of five pretty much perfect pop songs. I never thought I could enjoy Oasis this much.

Hi,

What a boring album!

25 years later I am still not able to understand why music lovers, and most incredibly, a big number of critics, praise this piece of scrap.

The worst thing is that a bunch of songs as simple as it can be have an average length of almost 5 minutes, when most of them have said all they have to tell in less than 1 minute. Is it really necessary more than 5 minutos of Hey now!, some might say or morning glory?

Apart from number 1 & 2, which are quite fine, the rest is shit.

I was a huge Oasis fan in the 90's and have listened to this album a million times. In hindsight it's not at all a perfect album even though I can still enjoy it. As someone who really like Oasis I can still be upset with the number of great songs wasted on B-sides to the singles. This could easily have been an even more classic album. But still think that all the 10 songs, without the untitled tracks still holds quite a decent standard and believe that they all would have done quite okay as singles back then. They have definitely released crappier singles later.

It's hard for me to rank now. Even though some of the singles are objectively the best tunes, I'm kind of sick of them and would rather listen to the other ones. Wonderwall is a simply great song, I never feel the urge to listen to it, but everytime I do, I'm reminded. 25 years on and every kid I meet knows every word of it and sings along. The only overrated song for me on this album is Don't Look Back in Anger. Great live tune but the album version was never a favorite of mine.
