New report errors
Re: New report errors
On your 1960 song list I see three songs that were released in 1959.
Money - Barrett Strong - single released in August 1959 and reviewed in Nov 1959.
http://rateyourmusic.com/release/single ... apologize/
Beyond The Sea - Bobby Darin - Released on the "That's All" album which was on the charts already in Oct of 1959.
Baby What You Want Me To Do - Single released and reviewed in dec of 1959.
On your 1959 song list, "Sea Cruise" and "Since I Don't Have You" and "The Right Time" were all released in 1958.
On your 1958 song list, "Maybe" "Book of Love" "Get A Job" and "Red Hot" were all released in 1957.
On your 1957 song list "Come Go With Me" was released in 1956.

Some mmore wrong years on song lists:
Dance To The Music , Tighten Up and Time Has Come Today were all released in 1967, not 1968.
Only The Strong Survive, Polk Salad Annie, and Games People Play were all released in 1968, not 1969.
Didn't I, Give Me Just A Little More Time, Rainy Night In Georgia, Walk A Mile In My Shoes, Psychedelic Shack, The Ghetto, and See Me, Feel Me were all released in 1969, not 1970.

Re: New report errors
There appears to be something off about your rankings of songs in accordance with Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. The mistake appears to have started right after Prince's "When Doves Cry", which is ranked number 52 on their list, and appears listed at number 52 on this website. However, the song that is ranked 53 on their list, Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves a Woman" is ranked number 54 on this site. These mistakes continue for The Kingmen's "Louie Louie", which is listed at number 54 on their list, but number 55 on this site, Little Richard's "Long tall Sally", which is ranked number 55 on their list, but number 56 on this site, and the Sex Pistol's "Anarchy in the U.K.", which is ranked number 56 on their list, but number 53 on this site. After that, the mistakes appear to end. Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is listed at number 57 by Rolling Stone and at 57 on this site.

As I told during the 80's poll, the following albums are in fact compilations
- Fela Kuti - Black President
- Orchestra Baobab - Ken Dou Werente / Pirates Choice
were both released in Europe but consisted of material that was previously released in thier countries of origin

Re: New report errors
But are they "greatest hits" or "best of" compilations? Only those are excluded according to the "Q&A's" page. There's quite a number of compilation albums included on the site.

Re: New report errors
"Black President" consists of three songs; the two songs from "Sorrow Tears and Blood" and one more. Its critics' listings could therefore perhaps be credited to "Sorrow Tears and Blood".
All critics lists including "Pirates Choice" should perhaps be credited to both "Vol. 1: Senegambie" and "Vol. 2: Ngalam" instead of "Ken Dou Werente".
Let me know how you feel about these two suggestions.

Henrik, this record....
The Spaniels - Goodnite Sweetheart, Goodnite
...should be in 1954, you currently have it in 1953. It was advertised and reviewed as a new release in March of 1954 in Billboard.

The Rolling Stones song "Get Off of My Cloud" is listed on this website as "Get Off My Cloud".
Re: New report errors
Henrik, you've got "Swanee" by Jolson as the top song of the 1910s. The song is actually from 1920. It evens lists it in 1920 in the results of the survey you guys did on the favorites of 1900-1949.

Kid Rock's song "Bawitdaba" was originally released on his 1998 album "Devil Without a Cause". This website lists "Bawitdaba" as a 1999 song.

Don't ask me how I know that one either.

Re: New report errors
The Muse song "Plug In Baby" is listed on this website as "Plug-In Baby". I can't find any evidence of the hyphen being in the song's title, so it should probably be removed from the name of the song on this website.

Re: New report errors
Please consider if the presentation of the 1966 songs could benefit from some revision.
After the James and Bobby Purify song "I'm Your Puppet" there are 4 songs that are listed without a numerical ranking and without being designated as bubbling under.
Perhaps these songs should be given numbers and included in the top 3000, or otherwise identified as being bubbling under or otherwise.
Also, I question whether the Nazz version of Hello It's Me should be identified as by Todd Rundgren. In my view, Hello It's Me properly belongs in 1973 as it is in RYM as far as I can tell.

Re: New report errors
I posted this in the old forum, but it's appropriate so I'll repost it here-
The Kanye West song "Diamonds from Sierra Leone" is incorrectly listed as "Diamond from Sierra Leone". Also, the song that the critics list are referring to is most likely the remix version of "Diamonds from Sierra Leone", as that version was a single, while the non-remix was a hidden track at the end of "Late Registration". So the song should probably be renamed as "Diamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix)".
Hopefully when the eventually update comes in June, the errors in both this thread, and the thread on the old forum are corrected. Here's a link to the old forums error page for convenience.

The LCD Soundsystem song "Get Innocuous!" should be listed as "Get Innocuous!" not "Get Innocuous".

Maybe I'm blind, but I can't actually find a link on the artist list to Roni Size/Reprazent. I was only able to find it by going to one of the year lists they were featured in.

Sorry Henrik to be so nitpicking but then that's why this "new reports errors" is dedicated, isn't it ? T. Rex's Bang a Gong (Get It On) is mispelled as Get It On (Bang A Gong) ..?

Jay-Z's "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)..." is listed as "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is...) on this website. The "..." should be right after the closing parenthesis, not before it. I know this is unbelievably pedantic, but it's something that I noticed.

Re: New report errors
Mmm...Henrik, I hope everything is going fine with your update...I found an error in the release of a single that will probably make your teeth cringe but then it's a good occasion to ask you if you are inflexible about that...Given that you take into account the release of an album that contains the track rather than the single, what about those which were released just a few days before the other year...I remember clearly the recent case of JUMP by Van Halen issued December, the 21st of the year 1983...Okay, in case you are over-scrupulous about that, well, I found the track DISCO INFERNO by The Trammps which appears on the same titled album, released on .................December, the 29th...!!!
in 1976...!!! That one is cheeky, isn't it...???

Re: New report errors
Since I've been going through '80s songs on RYM, I found that they considered two 1985 songs to be from 1984:
The Commodores - Nightshift (December 1984)
Sonic Youth - Death Valley '69 (December 1984)
By the way, as far as Rolling Stone's Top 500 Anything goes, I believe they feel free to slightly change the order whenever they publish it in a different format. The Top 500 Albums, for instance, changed when it went from a published magazine to a book -- I seem to remember Hank Williams "40 Greatest Hits" suddenly appearing in the top 100, which then booted the #100 album to #101. (They likely consolidated votes with the out-of-print Hank Williams box set, which then disappeared from the list. A similar thing happened with Robert Johnson.) And then they revised it after their top 100 albums of the 2000s list, so they could move items like "Kid A" a few hundred spots up. They may well have done the same thing for the Top 500 Songs. This screws up a site like this that may have to end up listing "In the Wee Small Hours" as having two or three different spots in Rolling Stone's Top 500, which are all "accurate."

Re: New report errors
Jimi Hendrix has a song listed as "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". It seems you have the title of two songs mixed up. I assume the one you meant is "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", with a "D" at the end. "Voodoo Chile" is a 15-minute blues rock jam.

Re: New report errors
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that it was called "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" on the original LP (naked ladies cover) and then changed to "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" on the alternative cover pressing. The single release in 1970 again called the song "Voodoo Chile" (if this isn't confusing enough the "Slight Return" part had now been removed from the title) and hence I think I'm going to stick with "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)".Sweepstakes Ron wrote:Jimi Hendrix has a song listed as "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but someone is sure to point it out eventually...
El-P is listed twice (in the "E Artists" list).
Also, I wonder if maybe the listing for "Dexys" should be combined with the listing for "Dexys Midnight Runners", as the former is the same band as the latter, with just a shortened name. Food for thought.
