Kirsty MacColl - Days: 9
I always liked the original by The Kinks a lot. Such a simple song, but very effective because of it. Kirsty MacColl's take turns out to be just as great. It misses the more jubilant nature of the original, but her quiet take gives it more of a wistfulness. If only I could say goodbye to someone like this. She also improves on The Kinks in one respect: the drawn-out "Daaaaaaays" near the end sounds a lot more natural with her and that was the only fault of the original. I really love this cover!

Kendrick Lamar feat. Ab-Soul - Ab-Soul's Outro 6
The Smashing Pumpkins - Drown 7
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Lip Service 8
Bobby 'Blue' Bland - Don't Want No Woman 4
Eurythmics - I Could Give You (A Mirror) 5
Latin Quarter - Radio Africa 6
Kirsty MacColl - Days 8 The Kinks' recording is a 10 but MacColl's was the first version I heard. Johnny Marr's understated guitarwork contrasts with the original's crashing power chords in the intro and psychedelic meandering in the outro but both songs exude bittersweet nostalgia in their own ways.

One of those songs I thought I didn't know, because title and artist didn't ring a bell, but it turns out I know this vaguely from radio play. Actually quite a lot of fun, simply because of the wonderful vocals of Tina Charles.

As JosephMary said so thoughtfully in this song, Hymie, "Take Your Anger Somewhere Else"
Great punk-pop from this vastly underrated Irish band.
I'm grinning, I'm grinning
I'm ecstatic, I'm in fucking delight.

Compulsion - It's Great: 7
Not great perhaps, but it has an appealing rough sound and the ending section is a great change.
Freedy Johnston – Bad Reputation: 7
His name sounds like an old blues man, but this is not that. It also has no resemblance to Joan Jett. It's just a calm singer/songwriter track. Quite good, but maybe it would have been truly great if the grit from the lyrics were anywhere in the music.

Re: Biggest Fan Songs - November 2020
I also noticed the combi of two female names, but the women deserved better if you ask me. Both songs have something else in common: poor singing.
Barenaked Ladies - Jane: 5
It would be an okay indie singer/songwriter thing, but the voice is very whiny.
From First to Last - Emily: 3
I tend to like singing that isn't traditionally beautiful, but this horrible shouting and over-emoting by something with no range is just too unpleasant. Too bad, the album title is great.

Yes !
Pleased Compulsion appealed.
If you like It's Great, you should enjoy their album "The Future is Medium". It's full of great rock songs like this one.

661. The Decemberists – We Both Go Down Together - 9
This album is not their best but it's certainly the most Decemberist of their albums.
662. Tom Waits – Soldier’s Things - 6
I love Tom Waits and his stories but this one doesn't work as well for me as others.
663. Taylor Swift – All Too Well - 8
664. They Might Be Giants – Meet James Ensor - 5

678. Leonard Cohen - First We Take Manhattan - 7
I don't quite vibe with this song but I do appreciate how easily it gets stuck in my head
