Okay, here are the proximities I came up with. I hope they're interesting or useful!

First, here is my methodology:

• The purpose of this is to discover new albums based on your niche, so I decided that the albums at the top of the AMF list, being broadly enjoyable, weren't useful in determining this. The top 200 are excluded from all calculations.

• I tried different variations, and of the variations I tried using people's full lists, the same few names kept appearing high up on each member's list. To deal with this, and also because I think the top halves of our respective lists are much more valuable than the bottom halves, I decided to only look at the top halves of lists. Even with this adjustment, you will still notice these names appearing more often than others.

• Beyond those two points, I simply calculated the proportion of your list that coincided with another forumer's list. The percentages look tiny because I kept the denominator as total list size, even though I'm looking at less than half of it.

• There might be some ties at the bottom of each list that you can't see.

• Similar to Holden's spreadsheet, the forumers are ordered by when they posted their list for the poll

• The comparison to yourself is there mainly out of my laziness, but I suppose it could be a reference point as well.

• I learned a bit of Excel that I didn't know - I used SUMPRODUCT() for the formulas and LARGE() to get the lists.

As promised, I looked into comparing AMF's list with the recent Rolling Stone top 500 as well as RYM's top 500 list to see how AMF stands out.

RYM just massively updated their algorithm. Their previous chart included live albums (I think?) and perhaps archival releases. As such, I looked at their top 500 including live releases and archival releases, but this amounted to a whopping 154 of their top 500 and I feel it could result in some artificial effects. As such, in this comparison, I will use the version of the RYM chart that only counts studio albums, except for live and/or archival releases that also featured in our top 500.

I'd like to someday break free from the main Acclaimed Music list but there's now the problem of those albums having essentially defined my tastes...

I guess I could find my answer by seeing how much the AM list itself correlates with everyone.

For the actual lists, I'm not sure how Moonbeam or whoever did it last time, so I couldn't replicate that calculation. My calculation doesn't take order into consideration, which is important. I can still identify a "BleuPanda taste" or "FrankLotion taste" when I see it, so its really more of an issue of my inability to account for ordering of albums.

I think the notion that 2010s albums disappointed is based on the top 100-200. There were a lot of albums added from the decade but they were mostly down the list and largely a function of the fact that there were three more years worth of albums to vote for than in the 2017 poll. In the top 200, nothing from 2017-19 made the cut, it didn't feel like many 2010s albums improved their position, and the #1 album of the decade fell about 10 places.

Has anyone else attempted to find gaps in our poll results versus the revised top albums in the 2020 update?

The first gap that I found (with my possibly incorrect records) was for Rihanna's "Anti." My records indicate that Anti was not among our top 1000 and that it placed at 505 in the 2020 update - up from 1932 in the 2018 update. I am interested in learning about the best songs on Anti from any fans in the forum.
