I'm thinking of publishing this list on RYM after it's finished, unless someone else wants to do it. On an unrelated note, I definitely did not expect Brothers in Arms to lean so much towards the under 40 crowd.

Cool!!

Are there previous lists of the forum on RYM? Because I've never found one.

Surprising to see the 352 point drop with Eddie's recent passing
Well, most people voted for this poll before he died, so his death couldn't have influenced these results in a major way.

I'm starting to worry a little about So Tough by Saint Etienne. Not exactly an obvious album for such a list, but it won Moderately Acclaimed in 2017 and these winners always show up, but by now I fear So Tough will break the trend. Would be too bad.

Holden, can you please restate the points formula for the poll? The one posted in the list thread doesn't seem to be accurate.

The one in the list thread is indeed slightly off. Here is the fromula. ((100*tan(101/900))/(tan((Rank+100)/900))*((1001-(0.5*Rank)/1000.5)

That's fine then, I heard it for the first time last July :D

Yeah. I was thinking about. The problem with Van Halen is timing, but Tom Petty whose death was relatively recent goes better in the list.

But I think surpass the barrier for other latin music (and spanish) albums it'll be very difficult, especially for the classics :/

I predict we can check one or two more full spanish languague albums but will be very recent things, i'll be waiting.
"La Llorona" has already appeared as well
It's true. But in the cases I mentioned it's a continuity in the Top 1000.

Looks like I'll be able to do another 100 tomorrow, but after that definitely down to 50 a day!

I see Fetch the Bolt Cutters has helped popularize the other Fiona Apple albums here.

I'd say most definitely in the case of Tidal specifially. It didn't even make the top 1000 last time! (Shocking, actually, considering its high quality. Sadly I only heard it after the poll had ended!)

I'm the biggest fan of Tidal, and I first heard it during the Women in Music Poll in 2018.

For me it the Idler Wheel that got me to eventually listen to her back catalog and realize what I’d been missing. Coincidentally, it was just after the last poll that I finally gave them a listen. I fell in love with her whole discography pretty much instantly at that point (now apparently I’m one of ‘When the Pawn’s...’ biggest fans on here!). It all primed me for FTBC (which I love, although When the Pawn is probably my favorite).

Holden, I'm sorry but I just noticed something.

Georges Brassens' albums sometimes have two titles.

You have the album at place 977: "Georges Brassens - 1ère série : Georges Brassens chante les chansons poétiques (...et souvent gaillardes) de... Georges Brassens" and In my list, I have the album "Georges Brassens - N°1 (la mauvaise réputation)" which is actually the same album.

I'm afraid you separated the votes, which would be quite understandable without knowing the double titles of his albums.

Normally for my three other votes on Brassens, the titles should be the same as for the others voters.
I hope it won't turn things upside down if you didn't include my vote from the start.
Sorry.

I actually did this correctly, and your vote was counted. I noticed this early on, and did MANY checks of Georges Brassens albums while doing the compiling. Thanks for your concern!

The Tricky version of Black Steel is the best one imo, but it still is odd to put Public Enemy lyrics for Maxinquaye !

So late 90s-00s indie is not suffering too much so far, but mostly thanks to a few voters (I got your back styrofoamboots, acroamor and rump doll). The main trends I noticed is a boost to female songwriters (especially Fiona) and some big drops for « classic rock » though is mostly feels like the previous poll was the outlier in that aspect.

Not surprised to see that both Kate Bush and Fiona Apple are doing very well compared to 2017 as they have been consistently getting more attention on the forum over the last few years. I said this on the voting thread, but I expect Hounds of Love will continue this trend in a big way.

Hip hop is getting rocked in this middle section: big drops for the likes of Liquid Swords, Madvillainy, and Paid in Full.

I thought the Brazilian albums were going to do a little better based on the individual lists, but there is still room for nice placements for the top few.

Anyone else like to slowly scroll through the results and try to guess the album based only on the lyrics? Or is that just me? It's a fun little game, and I get about half the albums right.

Alright! Today was the last day of 100 albums a day. Tomorrow we will start getting 50 albums, spread out over five sets of 10.

I do the same ! Probably get a bit less than 50% though. Still baffled I didn't get Return to Cookie Mountains.

Very happy to see Perfect From Now On wouldn't have needed my vote to get to the top 500 !

Less happy that 2 Daft Punk albums will outrank Homework !

Nice to see Straight Outta Compton doing better than 2017 but not even in the top 300?

Feels like a lot of dad rock taste, especially in the 40 plus voters group. The Rap album doesn't do too well so far.

This forum has never been too big on gangsta rap. I'd expect to see a decent number of rap albums in the top 300.

I always do this with the polls. If I don't guess it with the lyrics I slowly scroll down the album art and try to guess it from there.

Is Live at the Apollo the first from the official top 100 to drop? Looks like it.
