2. The Breeders - Pod vs. Kate Bush - The Sensual World
3. Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson vs. Dinosaur Jr - Farm
4. Ritchie Valens - Ritchie Valens vs. Wayne Shorter - EMANON

I must confess that I've taken to starting from track 5 when listening to EMANON - I like it much better that way.

I seemed to be more in a Cocteaus than a Kate mood this week, hence their switching of positions in my rankings:

3. Santana - Santana v. 7. Cocteau Twins - Treasure
5. The Breeders - Pod v. 8. Kate Bush - The Sensual World
4. Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson v. 2. Dinosaur Jr. - Farm
6. Ritchie Valens - Ritchie Valens v. 1. Wayne Shorter - EMANON

Growers: Jingo | Persephone | Fortunately Gone | Rocket's Tail | Baby Let Your Hair Grow Long | Plans | N/A (it's as immediate an album as you'll find, which is clearly a positive) | She Moves through the Fair
I just wanna live large and remain though...

2. Santana - Santana vs. 1. Cocteau Twins - Treasure
5. The Breeders - Pod vs. 3. Kate Bush - The Sensual World
7. Brian Wilson - Brian Wilson vs. 6. Dinosaur Jr - Farm
8. Ritchie Valens - Ritchie Valens vs. 4. Wayne Shorter - EMANON

Although mostly another great selection I feel that Farm and Brian Wilson are getting a little out of their depth by now. And I really have a hard time understanding why Ritchie Valens keeps doing so well. My love for La Bamba remains untarnished, but the more I listen to the whole album the more I get the feeling that it is the only acceptable song on there (maybe because the traditional it's based on is strong). I get that 2 hour jazz albums aren't for everyone, but to me EMANON dwarfs Valens in more than just size.

Speaking of EMANON, I have to disagree with DaveC in that to me the first four tracks are the highlight (though I like the whole album). These early songs give me the feel like some free jazz band is trying to write some soundtracks for very old Hollywood epics and I'm a sucker for that stuff.
