Like Rob said earlier, lots of good to great versions of this song around. (My personal favorite is Bill Monroe's from 1958). Eva's got a beautiful voice, but I feel the smooth jazzy arrangement and increased tempo makes it lose it's heft - it goes from a dirge to elevator music. If your looking for elevator music, you could do worse - it just doesn't do the song justice. 4.

Today a hit song by one of the most critically derided acts of all time. The critics have devoted the last few years almost exclusively on reappraising previously hated, popular artists. Is it time we start to embrace Nickelback?

522. Nickelback - Someday
Year: 2003
Album: The Long Road

Someday isn’t the worst Nickelback song, but I’m still giving it a generous 3.

I've never been able to stand his voice, but whereas they have a lot of actually bad songs, I think this one is quite okay.

No, I did not purposefully let Limp Bizkit follow up on Nickelback. Random.org just has a good sense of humour. Well, at least we get two actual hits in a row, a rarity in this game.

To be fair, the Limp Bizkit and Nickelback songs didn't rank either (at least I don't think any did?).

Limp Bizkit - My Generation: 2
Where I was rather mild on Nickelback yesterday, I am not on Limp Bizkit today. Easily one of the worst songs that has appeared in this game, at least for me. If Run-DMC, almost twenty years before made it seem like a mix between rap and rock had a lot of potential, it were bands like Limp Bizkit that basically gave the whole idea a bad name. What annoys me about this song is how forced everything sounds: the guitar, the drums, the rapping, the lyrics. All of it sounds like it should be threatening and badass, but it just ends up feeling silly. I doubt if any band could seriously get away with lines like "It's Limp Bizkit fuckin' up your town/ we download in the shockwave", but it isn't these guys. They sound more like obnoxious teenagers desperate to prove themselves than a serious threat. The lyrical content (but not the wording) is close to that other famous 'My Generation', but performed without the humor and skill of The Who.

Limp Bizkit were at a peak in popularity when I was a teenager myself and this is what especially the boys were playing at the time, probably more than any other band, but I never understood the appeal. Also, they have one of the worst band names.

LOL oh Man, I think Limp Bizkit will get the worst rating of the game yet.

My nomination and I still enjoy it. It's stupid, loud, puerile but I don't follow much the celebrity hype on musical artists. So Fred Durst may be a douche, but when I feel like it, My Generation allows me to blow off steam. I guess Break Stuff takes the cake though if I need to let it go.
And I still feel it's a bit unfair - there was a band behind Fred Durst, and I think they had something. If you go past the silliness and poseur aspect of their leader, there was a lot of fun to be had.

It's only me though, but I have more fun with Limp Bizkit than the likes of Agnes Obel, Weyes Blood and co.

Sorry you had to be put through this ;-) No hard feelings ?

Oh and it's an 8 for me !!!! Sacrilege !

Limp Bizkit – My Generation

5 (not especially good or bad)

This sounds like the music for every WWF pay-per-view commercial in the late '90s. If anything, I wanted this to be worse (Limp Bizkit is not exactly in fashion anymore), but alas.

Nickelback - Someday

2

A co-worker at an old job used to play Nickelback, a lot. I know from experience that involuntarily giving them a chance doesn't improve matters. They symbolized when "biggest rock band" somehow came to mean the lowest common denominator.

I'm starting to feel confident that my Justin Hayward song will make it out of the all-time bottom 10 some year at this rate.

Laura Nyro – Eli’s Comin’: 8
Love this album. I still haven't quite heard someone doing with her voice what Laura Nyro does on here. It is pure ecstasy made vocal. She also added such a sense of humor, despite performing in such difficult registers. I can see why it would be too much for some, but I find it irresistible. I had a couple of other, similar songs by Nyro on my own list, but Eli's Comin' is great too.

Radiohead - Kid A: 5
It's tough to give something from Kid A only a 5, as I adore the album. In context I would perhaps give this a 6, as it works well as a segue between Everything In It's Right place and the National Anthem, but taken on it's own it barely makes an impact at all. Now, this song isn't really meant to stand on it's own, but such is the nature of this game that now it is.
