Green Day imitating Weezer?
Ooh Leonard Cohen in a dead heat with I Write The Songs... this is great.. wish more people would actually listen to the playlist.
Edit: Just ignore me - I'm old, tired and cranky! Happy mid-April!

I think the timing is slightly off, Brad - Green Day's Pulling Teeth dates from their debut, so about two years before Weezer's Blue Album. Who influenced who ?
As for Barry Manilow, this was pure auditory torture for me. BUT I didn't cut the song short, I needed to see how far I could take the pain.
Re: AMF Classics Edition 78
Yeah - I didn't vote for Leonard or Barry - they are both not my thing. However my Mum always had a soft spot for Barry - he is one of a handful of artists/bands she actually listened to!spiritualized wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 6:17 amI think the timing is slightly off, Brad - Green Day's Pulling Teeth dates from their debut, so about two years before Weezer's Blue Album. I did vote for Green Day - I've always enjoyed them throughout their career.

Actually I was wrong, Dookie is NOT Green Day's debut...39/Smooth was, in 1990 !spiritualized wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 6:17 amI think the timing is slightly off, Brad - Green Day's Pulling Teeth dates from their debut, so about two years before Weezer's Blue Album. Who influenced who ?

Re: AMF Classics Edition 78
lol - Didn't bother to actually check that... I just like poking fun at those two bands (and the over-emphasis on 90's "alternative" rock in general) - "how dare they choose GD over GoF!"spiritualized wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:07 amActually I was wrong, Dookie is NOT Green Day's debut...39/Smooth was, in 1990 !spiritualized wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 6:17 amI think the timing is slightly off, Brad - Green Day's Pulling Teeth dates from their debut, so about two years before Weezer's Blue Album. That's it Brad ! I'm reporting you to the moderators for being anti GD (who I saw about 8 times)Brad wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 1:38 pmlol - Didn't bother to actually check that... The GoF song doesn't really appeal to me - I listened to "Damaged Goods" earlier today, much better.
Re: AMF Classics Edition 78
Fair enough, though "Damaged Goods" did just about as well here... as I said, I'm just getting older and crankier!spiritualized wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 1:45 pmThat's it Brad !
