Bryan Adams - Straight from the Heart: 3
There are times I forgive Bryan Adams everything because he made Summer of '69. Than I listen to anything else he recorded and have to reconsider. Nobody was as committed as him to that particular sighing, sensitive, singing style as him and I can't stand it. Worse of all, it was already there from the beginning, as Straight from the Heart proves. There was no rough starting phase for this guy.

Bryan Adams - Straight from the Heart

I like three Bryan Adams songs, but this isn't one of them. Two albums preceded this, released during his lean years -- of those, Allmusic recommends Bryan Adams Hasn't Heard Of You Either (re-titled You Want It, You Got It by the time of its release). Oddly, you have to go to web.archive.org to find an Allmusic profile of Adams.
Incidentally, my rating system is something like: 10 is a great radio song (or equivalent in quality). 6-10 is a positive rating, with 5 being the lowest passable rating. 1-3 is bad enough to be offensive on some level (because of how generic it is, or something worse).

Watch the throne Also should be Steriogram - yes, they cannot spell.
475. Bryan Adams – Straight from the Heart - 5
Just kinda slow and acceptable. A little boring, even. I prefer his grander and cheesier work.
476. Steriogram – On and On - 9
Steriogram deserved better. They were one hit wonders, for Walkie Talkie Man, and even then only really in NZ, and then no-one ever heard of them again. But Schmack! is a genuinely good punk album in my nostaliga-heavy view.
I think On and On is excellent, with a really grand feel (it's the closer) and a lot of texture with the different parts.

Decent punk. I like it, but don't have anything in particular to say about it.

Never liked anything Bryan Adams did. Not even his Sweeney Todd days. Being from Canada I had to endure a bombardment of his songs on all the radio stations.Rob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:57 pm Bryan Adams - Straight from the Heart: 3

Peter Brötzmann – Machine Gun

I actually used to own this album. I knew what I was basically in for, and listened to it probably a couple times, wasn't turned off by it, but felt like I got the point. This was back when I'd make a beeline toward whatever was supposed to be the most extreme music around, or what was considered experimental or avant-garde. (You think I can't take this? I'll show you!)
I was surprised to read the allegation that this track is a "song," because I still haven't noticed that, except for a bit of tune during the 15th minute (as a joke?). Rather, it reminds me of "Endless, Nameless" or "European Son." Musical instruments can make all these careful melodies, or can call forth any number of musical styles. They can also just make a fucking racket or assault, capturing a primal feeling instead of trying to harness some of it into something more sophisticated. Not the stuff of a 10 out of 10, necessarily, and God knows I couldn't play this in my living room, but it seems like an important element in the musical universe.
