Album Ranking Software Issue

Post by Holden »

I have run into an issue with the Album Ranking software: there is no way that I can figure out to save the changes to the list of albums so that it uses them when ranking. I try and all it does is rank “1999” and “Sgt. Peppers”

I don't know about the file you've received, but did you close the "Album List.txt" file? It's like a regular Word document in that there's a pop-up whenever I press the exit command, asking me whether I want to save the changes I made.

Indeed, you should have an Album List.txt file that you can edit in something like Excel or similar, and save changes. If it doesn't work, send me a list of the items you'd like to rank and I can customise it for you.

What happens is that I will change the list, and then it will ask me to save, and I will save it but it forces me to save it somewhere else on my computer and then I go back in to the ranker and it has reverted. I’ll try again tonight though!

Ooh. I actually ran across that problem. The problem was that I didn't save the AM Album Ranker file in my documents, which is how I was able to access, edit and rank the file. Just copy and paste into the document area (I'm not good with computer lingo). See if that helps. That's how I was able to solve the problem. Apologies for not responding sooner.

Yeah, that's what it should look like. What step are you on now?

Basically I enter in the albums and then I save it somewhere else and it doesn’t save them in the program.

Here's what I would try. Try copying the Album List.txt file and pasting it in a new folder. Then see if you can edit the file as you wish and save it in that new folder with the name Album List.txt. Copy the other files (particularly the .R file and the .RData files) into the new folder, and open the .RData file and see if that works.

Question: can ratings be changed after having already inputted a different rating and doing many comparisons with it?
