Today I’m going abroad for a few days and won’t keep an eye on this game, so you get the complete line-up until Monday:

Thursday, another bubbler:

The song on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFMC-SVxTNk

Saturday, the second song for this artist:

116. Janet Jackson – When We Oooo

90. Woody Guthrie - I Ain't Got No Home In This World Anymore 2/10
91. Judas Priest - United 9/10
92. Fiona Apple - Limp 8/10
93. The Harptones - Life Is But A Dream 3/10
94. Bruce Springsteen - Take 'Em As They Come 7/10
95. Nirvana - Dive 8/10
96. Son House - Death Letter Blues 3/10
97. Branford Marsalis - Berta Berta 1/10
98. John Mayer - Love On The Weekend 3/10
99. Raul Sexias - Tentia Outra Vez 5/10
100. Deathray Davies - Fall Fashions 8/10
101. Chromeo - I'm Not Contagious 4/10
102. Talking Heads - Radio Head 9/10
103. Katerine - Papa 2/10
104. Golden Earring - In My House 6/10
105. Radiohead - Numbers 8/10

A lot of later Radiohead stuff leaves me cold. That's why I was surprised that this track was so good.

106. Garbage - Supervixen 9/10

Great opener. Love the stop/start. Always liked it and thought this should have been released as a single. Garbage by name - not by nature.

107. Adele - Hometown Glory 3/10

I find her vocals unusually grating on this cut.

108. Bob Dylan - To Ramona 4/10

Never been a fan of folk. The same applies here.

109. Art Blakey - Blues March for Europe No.1 4/10

Not a fan of Jazz either. I've tried - I used to work in a record where we specialised in Jazz, Easy Listening etc. but yeah - it didn't rub off.

110. 5th Dimension - Wedding Bell Blues. 4/10

More of a fan of their psychedelic stuff. When I head this track it sounds like jazz-rock a-la 'Chicago'. I was surprised to find a lot of sites describe it as a 'soul' song. I suppose it's a bit of both.

111. The Kinks - Lavender Hill 8/10
112. Human League - Sound Of The Crowd 7/10
113. Red House Painters - Revelation Big Sur 2/10
114. Keane - This Is The Last Time 8/10
115. Omar Khorshid – Rakset El Fadaa 7/10
116. Janet Jackson - When We Oooo 2/10
117. Billy Idol - Flesh For Fantasy 9/10
118. Los Incas - El Condor Pasa 7/10

113. Red House Painters – Revelation Big Sur
There's a lot to say. Neither good nor bad. 4/10

114. Keane – This Is the Last Time
Not my thing. 3/10

115. Omar Khorshid – Rakset El Fadaa
Excellent discovery. Nice mix of genres. 7/10

116. Janet Jackson – When We Oooo
I could never love one of his songs and unfortunately, it doesn't start today. 2/10

117. Billy Idol – Flesh for Fantasy
I know very little about this artist. This song caught my attention, I just need a little more madness. 6.5/10

118. Los Incas – El Cóndor Pasa
It is difficult to note such a classic. A "scie musicale" heard hundreds of times. It's not bad obviously. 5/10

Morrissey had just released a version of this, which I absolutely love. It is very very un-Morrissey'y!

Fixed. Thanks! Tracks like that are sometimes hard to date.

My votes:

Keane - This Is the Last Time: 6
Keane is the sound of my teenage years, more so because they seemed to be everywhere than that I sought them out. Still, songs like these take me back. It's a fine Keane song, but even at the time it seemed more like another Keane song.

Omar Khorshid - Rasket El Fadaa: 8
Cool mix between traditional belly dance music and a more rock-oriented sound. Lots of energy on this one.

Janet Jackson - When We Oooo: 2
My dislike of Janet Jackson is well documented by now, so let me just state this is one of the worst I have heard of her yet.

Billy Idol - Flesh for Fantasy: 5
I can somewhat get why '80s fans like this as it has a lot of drive, but the constant posing of Idol as a singer (and that is even without visuals) just isn't for me.

Los Incas - El Cóndor Pasa: 8
Not only reminds this of Simon & Garfunkel reinvention of the song, but they actually used this very recording as the base track, which explains why the two songs are indistinguishable before the singing starts. Of course, this recording has a more rock-like ending, which is cool. I really like what Paul Simon did with it, but I don't even miss the singing all that much here. It is just too good a tune for that.

I'm pretty sure I never heard this before, but it sounds extremely familiar. It's probably similar to another song, but I can't place it. It's a good psychedelic tune though. It sounds almost 30 years older than it is, but not in a problematic way.

Very likable song. Sounds like a summer/ spring song from the sixties to me, although I can't tell if the lyrics match up with that view.

Had a fun time catching up a bit!

The Kinks - Lavendar Hill: 6.5
The Human League - The Sound of the Crowd: 9

Surprised this only got one vote! It's a classic!

Keane - This Is the Last Time: 4
Janet Jackson - When We Oooo: 10

Doesn't seem like this one was well received. For me, Janet has one of the most comforting voices out of anyone. I know she is usually pilloried for her voice, but there's something so familiar and soothing about her tone (and especially her harmonies!) that makes her ballads particularly delightful to me. This song was the first song I put on a "Janet Slow Jams" CD back in the mid 00s that I used to fall asleep to at night during a difficult time - it has an instant calming effect on me.

Billy Idol - Flesh for Fantasy: 7.5
Los Incas - El Condor Pasa: 6

Adele- Hometown Glory 7 Not an Adele fan but I do have a penchant for this and Cold Shoulder, which are still affecting and coming from a point when she wasn't inescapable. Plus the High Contrast remix bumps it up to a 9 :D

The Human League- The Sound of the Crowd 8 The first time I heard this was when it was playing from my alarm clock radio and still half-asleep, so it felt like it was playing to my subconsciousness. I couldn't stop singing "Get around town, get around town" out loud for the rest of the day without knowing why or where it was from! This is the kind of 80s pop I can f- with, synth experimentation with that Motown-like dedication to classic songcraft.

Keane- This Is the Last Time 6 Had the Hopes and Fears album but this felt like a single too far, an extension of the Keane template. It's nice to hear it as a throwback, though.

Vintage month, very eclectic, loads of absolute tunes:

Woody Guthrie - I Ain't Got No Home in This World Anymore 6 Partly a protest song against Fred Trump!
Judas Priest - Untied 5
Fiona Apple - Limb 8 but it's a high 8
The Harptones - Life Is But a Dream 4
Bruce Springsteen - Take 'Em As They Come 6
Nirvana - Dive 5
Son House - Death Letter (Blues) 6 Only heard White Stripes' cover before
Branford Marsalis - Berta, Berta 7 Recognise this as sampled in J. Cole's GOMD
John Mayer - Love on the Weekend 3
Raul Seixas - Tente Outra Vez 8 Must be all the Brazilian albums I've been listening to from the last all-time list as I seem to be getting into Lusophone music
The Deathray Davies - The Fall Fashions 8
Chromeo - I'm Not Contagious 8 Completely out-of-time but became less Zapp, more EW&F's Let's Groove as the track went on, I can get behind that!
Talking Heads - Radio Head 5
Phillppe Katherine - Papa 2
Golden Earring - In My House 5 Radar Love scrapes a 9
Radiohead - The Numbers 5
Garbage - Supervixen 7
Bob Dylan - To Ramona 7 I Don't Believe You and probably It Ain't Me Babe are 10s off Another Side
Art Blakely and his Jazz Messengers - Jazz March for Europe No. 1 6
The 5th Dimension - Wedding Bell Blues 4
The Kinks - Lavender Hill 6
Red House Painters - Revelation Big Sur 7 All 7 points go to the guitar-playing, stirring chord sequences
Omar Khorshid - Rakset El Fadaa 6
Janet Jackson - When We Oooo 5
Billy Idol - Flesh for Fantasy 5
Los Incas - El Condor Pasa 6
Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci - If Fingers Were Xylophones 6

Big fan of Dust Bowl Ballads here and this song captures what makes it so special. Simple, yet truly poetic and heartfelt
