Well I can’t remember which albums I nominated but there’s some great ones here! Though like last year I’m more excited to discover a lot of these that I’ve never heard before

Always excited for this!

I do seem to recognize a lot more albums than ever. Maybe I'm just finally beginning to get familiar with music or there are more famous albums this year. In fact, there might be up to 20 that I'd guessed out of the top of my head to be in the top 500. Perhaps these are just forum favorites, which means they might dominate.

Also hasn't Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning appeared at least twice already in this game?

It may well have and might not be the only one - I think the blink-182 album keeps coming back, for instance.
I suppose I could go back and check at some point... definitely quite a few "two-peats" on here. I think the high turnover in participation is the main culprit here.

Also people's favorites don't necessarily change over time and they might have forgotten what they nominated long ago.

I'm assuming the 1993 version w/ Tom Waits, but I'll check with nominator hectorthebat to verify. Thanks!

Yeah I nominated Enema of the State three years ago and it did not fare well. For whoever the new nominator was, here's to hoping it does better this time around.

The soundtrack to Okami is missing on this playlist. That's understandable, but it is actually on Spotify, as it was added two weeks ago when a lot of Japanese game soundtracks finally appeared. Like most Capcom soundtracks it is not credited firstly to the original artists, but to Capcom Sound Team, although the tracks themselves name individual artists. For Okami, these Japanese symbols don't seem to match those of the original artists though. No matter, the album on Spotify has the correct music. Here it is:

No, they didn't make it easy to find for Western fans.

Hmmm. I'm sure there was a version without Tom waits, but without raising the titanic. In that case, it'll be the full tom waits version. Sorry for the confusion!

Interesting, Goa Mix is a radio show?

I like the amount of obscure hard to find stuff in this draw, but the downside is, no US CD release = Not on Spotify and difficult to find elsewhere. I wonder if the nominators can help out with their source?

What a coincidence! I just finished uploading my obscure choice to YouTube because I noticed the songs for Salty were out of order in the above link.
The video is unlisted to hopefully avoid getting taken down.

Ok, so the video got immediately picked up by UMG and copyright claimed so I think that's made it unshareable.

So here's a playlist instead! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... Q_bbrpr3YO

Buckingham Nicks def on youtube; I used Goa and Salty links provided (appreciate that guys) - they worked for me.
Shankar Family & Friends I cannot find, not even to purchase on disc (only expensive vinyl). luney6 is the nominator - I will reach out to see if he can provide a link somehow; otherwise this may be the first match-up in all the AM competitions I will be unable to participate in.

Regarding Goa and similar submissions (non-traditional "albums") - I'm unsure of whether or not they ultimately should be included in future tournaments, but I'd rather crowd-source you guys than become the arbitrator of what is appropriate for a tournament called "Moderately Acclaimed Albums". Last year, there was a radio mix that many of you seemed to like quite a bit, but I started to wonder if people were voting on the quality of the (superb) video that accompanied it rather than the quality of the plundering mix itself. I don't encourage that, of course.

OK, I may be swapping out Shankar Family & Friends with another of luney6's nominations. I'll give it a couple more days to see if anyone can help out, but it appears the links he previously had access to for the album are gone or no longer working.

We've been im-ing each other and, though disappointed, he's ok with that decision.

I hope everyone else is cool with this.

If the album ever becomes available, I vow to put it at the very top of my list for the next tournament.

Stay tuned!

It's working for me - Thanks Sweeps! I knew somebody would find it!

Now, just confirming - are we all cool with using the Bryars/Waits collaboration for the "Jesus' Blood..." entry? I don't think it's on spotify in U.S. but it is on youtube. Just want to verify before taking the plunge!

There’s a few versions of Jesus Blood on Spotify, one with several tracks two of which feature Waits. Is that incorrect?

In Spotify all the Kino album titles are in Cyrillic letters. Is the one we want the one from 1990?

Fits that that two best discoveries for me so far are the two least available ones. :)

Anywhere know where I can get either a physical or permanent digital copy of Shankar or Buckingham Nicks?

And not a hundred dollar vinyl copy?

To my knowledge, Buckingham Nicks has never been (legally) re-released or placed on streaming services. I believe this has quite a bit to do with Lindsey and Stevie's tumultuous on-and-off relationship, and with Lindsey currently out of Fleetwood Mac, I don't see a re-release happening anytime soon.

Surprised any band now wouldn’t take advantage of any easy cash grab that takes the effort of a phone call no matter how bad terms they are on.

I’ll take any permanent copy now, with intent to legally purchase as soon as they let me.

I'm having difficulty finding Tokyo Jihen - Kyōiku on spotify or youtube.
Can someone else check? - not sure if it's a translation issue or not.

I see it's available at a good price used on Amazon - if we have no other links available, I'll go that route.

Thanks!

I didn't realise that this would be a problem. I can't find the full album anywhere other than Spotify, so maybe you will need to replace it Brad.

No worries - I'll buy a copy on amazon, that's no problem. Not everyone lives in the States, so several will have access - the others can seek it out as well or skip the round. I'm not opposed to making copies if that helps. Let's keep it!
