6001/6096: Heats, Week 2

Post by Bang Jan »

The way this game works is that you will be given two sets of four songs, your job is to rank each of the sets from best to worst. First place gets 4 points, second gets 3 etc.

The song with the most points in each set will advance to the semi-finals. If there is a tie for points, then the song with more first place votes will advance. If they are tied on first place votes as well, there will be a sudden death tiebreak. Also the six highest scoring non-winners in the heat stage (based off point per voter and then percentage of first place votes) will also advance to the semi-finals.

Feel free to ask any questions, deadline is next Wednesday at 15:00 UTC.

6001 | Eddie Vedder | Hard Sun
6048 | Killer Mike | Reagan
6049 | Clipse | Wamp Wamp (What It Do)
6096 | Pulp | My Legendary Girlfriend

6019 | Mount Kimbie feat. King Krule | Blue Train Lines
6030 | Hank Williams | Ramblin' Man
6067 | The Time | Jungle Love
6078 | Jeff Buckley | Mojo Pin

Reagan is one of the 3 songs in the 6001/6096 section that are in my top 1000, but Blue Train Lines felt pretty close ; I know King Krule's voice is not for everyone, but if there is one song where it perfectly fits it's that one !

Looking at the full list, I guess Mojo Pin could be seen a realistic winner of the game.

It's actually Hank Williams' version that's being voted on here.

Well, sorry about that, StevieFan13, I was too pedantic. It's the same version. "Luke the Drifter" was a pseudonym that Hank Williams used for his spoken word material (you can find more information in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Wi ... he_Drifter). "Ramblin' Man" was a rarity because it was first released under the pseudonym of Luke the Drifter but it was a song sung and not spoken.

Killer Mike | Reagan 9
Pulp | My Legendary Girlfriend 7
Eddie Vedder | Hard Sun 6
Clipse | Wamp Wamp (What It Do) 6

Hank Williams | Ramblin' Man 10
The Time | Jungle Love 8
Mount Kimbie feat. King Krule | Blue Train Lines 7
Jeff Buckley | Mojo Pin 6

Second week in a row where I like every song! A marked improvement (as I guess it should be) over the 10,000 ranked group, where there were weeks I didn't even vote because I didn't care much for most of the songs.

I wasn't aware of that, either, but it's sure an interesting fact. Thanks for the link & information, Honorio!
