R.I.P. Bob Dorough

Post by Sweepstakes Ron »

Okay, this is really crazy... Schoolhouse Rock! is really something from my parents' time, but I owned the DVD when I was little and used to watch it all the time. Tonight, I decided to take a nostalgia trip and marathon all the shorts, and when I finished, I found this news...

Bob Dorough composed and performed many songs for the Schoolhouse Rock! series of Saturday morning cartoons, and also worked with Miles Davis and Blossom Dearie (the latter of whom also performed on Schoolhouse Rock!).
Splish splash, I was raking in the cash

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat... the hits keep coming I guess...

He took a plunge into educational music, which is a wonderful genre in my opinion. Melodies, sing-alongs, and rhythms make learning fun, or at the very least, more interesting, especially for young children. I don't know the state of educational music prior to Schoolhouse Rock, but at least for me, it started at "Multiplication Rock."

We still have his songs, which I hope will be beloved for another 100 years.

Good... good good good, eleven mmm...
