AMF WC Classics Edition 09

Post by spiritualized »

Welcome to instalment n°8 of the Classics Chart, where YOU get to nominate and vote for the best songs ever in a tournament to the death !

:scared-shocked: Slight dip with 131 votes
:scared-shocked: The Beach Boys stay @ Number 1 this week
:scared-shocked: 5 new entries from Vampire Weekend, Robyn, Elton John, The Kinks and the Faces
:text-bump: Serge Gainsbourg, Bjork and Interpol are OUT !
:text-bump: And we have our first CLASSICS Hoffers this week with The Smiths and Isaac Hayes. Well deserved and some will breathe a sigh of relief not to have to vote for these songs again :)

Enjoy voting for your favorite 10 songs... a difficult feat !

The AMF WC Classics Hall of Fame playlist :

Top Chart (number of weeks as n°1)

The Smiths - How Soon is Now (2)
Nina Simone - Feeling Good (2)
The Beach Boys - God Only Knows (4)

** Edit ** Sleater Kinney's entry had to be ousted, as I wasn't sure which song Stevie wanted to nominated and realised a bit late that Interpol had the same number of votes and weeks as Love and Bjork. They therefore go through

Sorry, how are ties determined? Do old songs really get priority over new ones in that regard?

Hi Bleu,
No, the more recent ones get priority if there is a tie.

Why, did you see something I missed ?

Darn, Are you stopping the 10000 ? shame, I was hoping to use your latest review in case there were a lack of nominations.

No, the more recent ones get priority if there is a tie.

Why, did you see something I missed ?
I mean, The Kinks' Do You Remember Walter and Elton John's Can You Feel the Love Tonight also all got 5 votes.

Ahem. Yes you are right - I was working on a two-week old file.
Sorry, fixed. Bjork and Interpol get the kick, they had no votes for them.

Chico Buarque - Roda Viva

Don’t agree with Buarque’s political view, but his talent to express it is undeniable.

Yes, I wrote about it here.
You could possibly do the same thing as I did for this series and grab a random number through random.org yourself. Or go through my existing list, perhaps starting at the bottom, where the less known songs reside.
