Why did CSS make it and not The Bottle, both with 7 votes and The Bottle was a new song?

Well spotted.
CSS was not supposed to make it originally but as we had only 9 nominations, I added the next one down and for that I was wrong, my apologies.
I can’t correct the chart image immediately but I can change the Spotify playlist and the poll.

That should be The Faces, unless there's some early version I'm not aware of!

I really hate seeing God Only Knows at 10 votes while we only have 89 votes overall. This implies there are at least a couple people who are voting for less than 10 songs and their votes are going to at least one of the established classics (and looking at the current spread, most likely all of their votes). I really hope people voting in this are listening to all 20 songs before doing so, and, honestly, this format doesn't actually work when people vote for less than 10 songs - all this does is swing the balance towards song everyone knows. But by having voting being anonymous, there's no accountability. More obscure songs don't stand a chance by design in this.

There is an element of truth in what you say - but the recipe has been tried and tested for a while now with the other chart. Popular artists are definitely going to be more...well... popular.
People may also start voting for the ones they are already accustomed to without listening to them. You said it yourself (I think) : there is so many listens of a song your brain can accept without saturation (except if you're my daughter and you CONSTANTLY listen to BTS)

I'm fine with that, as long as voters DO take the time to listen to the rest of the songs. Having done a few enquiries on the original chart, I think most people do listen to all the songs, but not necessarily in one go. The fact that voters complain when they can't change their votes speaks volumes in that sense.

On another point, I think everyone witnessed that the "obvious" songs are disappearing from the nominations. I am not keen, I will repeat, to create rules which will complicate things. But that doesn't prevent anyone from following some basic "courtesy" rules (i.e no song in the top 1000 or 5000, or whatever you feel comfortable with). I follow a very basic rule : randomization of my 18000-strong favorite song list. If one day I hit a top 500 song, I may reconsider, but then I may not.

PS - I also found in the other chart that sometimes, you just don't find enough songs you like...so I voted for 7 or 8 of them...
PPS - As an example, I voted for 1 song until I listened to the others :) Guess which one ?

I do this every week. I listen to the chart and, knowing I'll be listening to the playlist again next week, only vote for the songs that I know I would be happy to be making myself listen to again.

I probably average a vote of about 6 entries a week... half of which usually don't make it through to the next week's voting :-?
