That Kacey Musgraves song kind of hurts me. I'm not deeply familiar with anything she has put out, but the songs from Same Trailer Different Park seemed to posit her as a country singer with personality. Maybe it already happened on Pagaent Material (which I haven't heard), but High Horse sounds like her style has lost all personality (and country influence) and she became just another pop singer, indistinguishable from the average radio hit of 2018.

Definitely a much different direction for Kacey. The track sounds like it came straight from the late 70's with it's disco-tinged beat. Pageant Material was not as country as her debut and it certainly prefaced the change of style represented here (I think it's a great album and better than her first btw, give it a listen). I can hear a little twang in her vocals on High Horse but not enough to classify it as country even though it seems these days there's a fine line between country and lite pop-rock and sometimes a little twang is all it takes to get on a country channel.
