Every submitter has at least 7 entries in the tournament (unless less were submitted). Some have more depending on where their name fell in the list (I go snake-draft style). Also, there were some duplicate album submissions so some may see more on their list in the final bracket due to this. I think Honorio ended up with 9 from his list making it because two were already entered when their turn came up (for example).

The following albums received multiple submissions:
Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning*
Gang Gang Dance - Eye Contact
Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - The Good Son
Paavoharju - Laulu Laakson Kukista
Seefeel - Quique

* despite multiple nods, "I'm Wide Awake..." was ranked too low on either list to make it in.

Well, looks like I’ll finally have to stop flaking on my 2-year promise to listen to the entire Hamilton cast recording...

I was thinking of ways we could use the fact there are 8 finished tournaments to do some kind of game with the winners, but then I think, this would probably just be a reaffirmation that yes, we do love Neutral Milk Hotel here. ;)

Can't wait to listen to all these, there are some heavyweights in the draw!

One Beat vs. Emotion is gonna be brutal. Also, while I don’t recall being the one to nominate The Stranger, I’m bummed that it has to face Baduism, which will probably win.

Cool!

I played this game for the first time in 2015 and I actually noticed that more than a few albums that competed in that year have returned. I know far more albums this time than in other years in general. Maybe I'm just getting slightly knowledgeable about this stuff by now.

Also, I knew there was an album I wanted to nominate, but forgot round the time I made my list. Turns out that was Nina Simone in Concert 1964, which is there anyway. It might very well end up winning.

I have a hard time understanding what exactly is the correct version of As Heard on Radio Soulwax, Pt. 2, as it seems to have a lot of variations and is credited to both 2 Many DJ's as well as Soulwax. Is this the right one: https://vimeo.com/93039571?

Also, I noticed the U2 entry is an unauthorized bootleg. A first for this game?

Thanks Rob - The U2 album had limited release in an official capacity, then was apparently bootlegged as well. RYM has it listed under both compilations and bootlegs, and while typically neither would be eligible, it's status as compilation is sketchy as it contains previously unreleased material, etc. As I don't want to be a complete dictator here, I figured it wouldn't be a problem... as long as we as a group have access to the music. I don't believe it's on Spotify, but perhaps elsewhere? Let me know if this is not the case.

Here's a bit of info from wikipedia:
The idea behind the album began when U2 lead singer Bono complained how people do not dance to U2 music. The album was then created for the band to develop experimental music and "change people's perceptions of what to think of U2".[1] Prior to its release, rumors about the album circulated for three years. Except for copies sent to radio stations, music press outlets, and friends of the band, Melon was only distributed to subscribers of U2's official magazine, Propaganda. At the time of release, Propaganda had around 35,000 subscribers, and fewer than 50,000 copies of Melon were pressed for release. For those who were not members of the magazine, the album was obtainable by signing up for a one-year subscription to Propaganda for US$18, until supplies were exhausted.[2] The album's rarity made it a collector's item, with copies selling on eBay for £30 as late as 2010.[3]

Melon spawned numerous bootleg imitations and was widely bootlegged itself. Various releases, known as "fruitlegs" or "fruitboots", have been released as compilations of official and unofficial remixes of various U2 songs.[4] Although they claim to be official with the "Remixed for Propaganda" subtitle and a fake copyright, only Melon was approved by the band and released through the fan club.

As for the Soulwax, I have no idea so I'll throw the request for clarification out to nominator hectorthebat.

I appreciate you bringing these points to light!

My two cents on Soulwax: the "As Heard of Radio Soulwax" series are all remixes and mashup collages Soulwax made for radio. Only the rights for a good part of Pt. 2 were cleared for commercial purposes and that is the version in the link and the one you can find in stores and Spotify (and I guess also the version eligible for this game). Parts 1 and 3 to 11 and the complete version of Part 2 (and possibly variations thereof) can be found floating around on the interwebs.

Soulwax and 2manydjs are the same duo. I believe Soulwax is the name they attach to their original work, while they use 2manydjs for remixes and mashups like this.

I initially thought there was a playlist of it on YouTube, but looking at it again, I notice that it doesn't contain all songs and lists one song double. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TwUnwy ... rb8YzIqp9M

I can't find it easily available.

For the record, I didnt mean it as criticism. I was actually amused that someone selected an unofficial bootleg, even though I didn't know the rules for it.

It's not on Spotify in these parts. Not even on YouTube. Only this Vimeo link, which was put online by the guys from Soulwax/ 2 Many DJ's themselves.

Let's go with the version in the Vimeo link as it seems to be the only one we're going to have mass access to in the U.S. and seems legit.

Not sure what to do about U2 yet - if we can't get a version via internet for everyone to hear, I may have to replace with another pick from same nominator. I even tried Amazon and they only have vinyl for $50 - def not going to pay that.

And no problem, definitely didn't take it as a criticism. I honestly don't check out each nomination for inconsistencies so miss this kind of stuff and appreciate someone being on the lookout!
