Thanks, notbrianeno. Four albums of the top 10 were in my top 15, so I can't complain.

Highest in my list that didn't make it:

2. London Grammar - Truth Is a Beautiful Thing
6. Jo Harman - People We Become
10. Hidden Orchestra - Dawn Chorus

Thanks, notbrianeno! Another great rollout. Man, I am surprised that DAMN was dethroned, though.

Thanks notbrianeno for the excellent rollout for both songs and albums of 2017! I believed that if DAMN. is not #1 then MASSEDUCTION would be it, but then with 6 songs in the top 100, American Dream is also worthy.

So Kendrick, Vincent and The National emerge. Sounds totally in sync with the times. Women and people of colour are rightfully stepping up (cc: mr. Grammy president) for their rights and the introspective intelectuals ... well ... these never fade, do they ? :)

My five highest ranking albums that didn't make it:

#6. Robin Borneman - Folklore II: The Phantom Wail
As a pretty local product this didn't stand any chance, even though I think a lot of people here might like it. I discovered it just to late to send it in for the Moderately Acclaimed Albums of 2017 game.

#8. Kevin Morby - City Music
Well, this was my submission for the Moderately Acclaimed game. I thought it might have broad appeal, but apparently I liked it a lot more than most people. Quite a few albums from that game made our list, but not this one.

Then there is quite a gap. From #9 to #22 everything ranked, sometimes to my surprise.

#23. Oh Sees - Orc
Perhaps too straightforward as a rock album to have a broad appeal. Just plain fun.

#25. Oneothrix Point Never - Good Time OST
It seems even an acclaimed artist can't bring soundtracks to people. This album has a lot of atmosphere that also works outside the context of the movie. It is somewhat hallucinatory. It might be a better Blade Runner album than the one for Blade Runner 2049.

#27. The Moonlandingz - Interplanetary Class Classics
Slight prog, but mostly art pop that I thought could appeal to many people here. Perhaps somewhat overlooked?

Thanks notbrianeno, for organizing this!

In the end, certainly can't complain about having 5 albums in common with top 10.

Though a little disappointing so few people voted for the five disc two and a half hour hookless autobiography I fell in love with. :)

"So I declared morality an offshoot of aesthetics, and got a failing C for my defiance"
"I played guitar, Chris played tin cans, Caroline played tambourine. Chris was 11, Caroline 12, I 13. We called ourselves the Black Widows, we weren't the last nor the first, but we were almost certainly, by far the worst"
"Be true to your bar, don't let it down, or else it may not always be around"

Maybe not the best album of the year, but probably the best lyrics of the year.

Top work, notbrianeno. Even though I don't have the time to participate in as many of these lists as I would like, I admire the level of dedication members like you, BleuPanda, Brad, DaveC and all the others put into running these threads.

-----

Didn't realise there were that many fans of The Navigator on this board. I didn't even expect it to make the top 100, let alone the Top 20. So to find out that it has strong support here is great news. Here's hoping that Alynda and the gang do such a great job with their next album that they crack the top ten!

I couldn’t have said it better.
