R.I.P. Dolores O'Riordan (1971-2018)

O'Riordan was the lead singer of the Cranberries. No cause of death has been given as of yet, but it was apparently sudden. Very sad, she was only 46 years old.

What a shame. I’ll aleays call Zombie an alt-rock classic.

This news affected me more than I thought it would. I'm going to be honest and say that I haven't listened to the Cranberries for many years now, but as a hormonal 14-year-old they were one of my favourite bands and I shouted along to "Zombie" basically every day when I came back from school for about six months in 1994. She had a distinctive voice that sounded refreshing among other 90s rock singers. R.I.P.

I never got too much into the Cranberries. But when they were good, they were REALLY good. This is a sad loss indeed.

R.I.P. Dolores. The Cranberries was a part of my teenage years. "Zombie" particular struck a chord and is still an insanely popular track I've heard in Munich during Oktoberfest to the most far flung places in Asia. Not that the band had no other hits. My top 10:

1. Zombie
2. Dreams
3. Linger
4. Ode to My Family
5. Salvation
6. Free to Decide
7. I Can't Be with You
8. When You're Gone
9. Ridiculous Thoughts
10. Promises

This one hit me particularly hard, too. Maybe it's because she was so young (younger than I am); and maybe it's because The Cranberries were one of my favorites in my young adulthood. Unfortunately, we've almost grown accustomed to saying goodbye to our aging favorite artists; I really hate needing to do the same to an artist still so young. R.I.P. Dolores.

My ten personal favorites:
1. Promises
2. Not Sorry
3. Still Can't...
4. Ridiculous Thoughts
5. How
6. Waltzing Back
7. I Still Do
8. Linger
9. Wanted
10. Fe-Fi-Fo

This news also struck more of a chord than I expected. It's been ages since I last listened to The Cranberries, but like apparently many here they were a factor in my younger years, especially thanks to Zombie, which is a song with unique vocals by O'Riordan.
