Re: MCCh 2017 (22) December 31
The last update for 2017, folks. A bit later than expected, but here it is at last. Perhaps it might inspire your end-of-year lists?
The Circuit des Yeux tracks:
Paper Bag: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E7WzKZrnUM
Black Fly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOSkOvcvhms
There is no Spotify, Youtube or Vimeo link to Falling Blonde
The Jay-Z tracks:
Kill Jay-Z: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_Tq6_fPBfo
Smile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQfAZjw3kdY
4:44: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUaGgwgA7Xs
The Ty Segall tracks:
Warm Hands (Freedom Returned): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqD_4ZvxI48
Orange Color Queen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbEQgKFor9Y
Take Care (to Comb Your Hair): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bycWOz6RwIg
The PWR BTTM tracks (also in the Spotify list in some regions):
Silly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkNOA20GoAc
Answer My Text: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmMOiwLocPQ
LOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31vSvSIy27s
Again sad to see some songs leave this playlist. Where would 2017 be without Hot Thoughts?
So, I started this playlist on whim at the end of January, when the first list was posted. For me it turned out to be the most important playlist of the year. I mostly played it at random, as it is too long to listen as a whole (it last 22 hours and 20 minutes now). This introduced me not only to some of the best songs of the year, but subsequently also made me check out albums I would have skipped or overlooked otherwise. What's more, whereas the EOY song lists usually highlights hits and singles this playlist contained far more unexpected tracks, including a lot from albums that are not looked at for sole songs. Turn out that I liked a lot of these songs and am sad to not see them show up in the official lists.
Of course, this 300 doesn't capture 2017 in its fullest, but I am really happy how the list turned out (even if I didn't select anything myself of course). It had 80 followers at the time of writing. I don't know how much and in what way they listened to it, but I like to think it connected with a lot of people. I'll continue this in January with the new playlist for 2018!
