Hi - I'm new to the board. Love this site!!
Just occurred to me that I haven't seen any version of "A Song For You" ranked on the top songs list. I'm especially surprised the Donny Hathaway version isn't here. Would anyone have some insight as to why? It's clearly considered to be a classic, and I thought was a very respected piece of music.
Thanks
"A Song For You"

Re: "A Song For You"
I agree with you, I think that this song is criminally under-appreciated. My personal favorite is the version from 1993 done by Ray Charles.

I think Leon Russell in general is pretty underrated.
Our three posts illustrates a possible reason for why it's not on AM. I prefer the Leon version, Matt prefers Ray, and you like Donny's version best. Perhaps the same is true for critics, and the song has gotten a few votes here and there for different versions.

Thanks guys - you may be right re: the multiple versions. I hope at least one of them makes it - such a beautifully written song.
