Pat DiNizio, frontman of the terrific New Jersey band The Smithereens, died Tuesday at age 62, per the Rolling Stone article linked above. Apparently he had suffered numerous illnesses and injuries in recent years, most recently from a fall at his home. Really shocking news. I was a big fan of the band during their heyday in the late 80s-early 90s, and I still turn up the radio whenever "Behind the Wall of Sleep" or "A Girl Like You" comes on.

Wow. How sad. I was just listening to "A Girl Like You" yesterday. I always liked that song and didn't have a lossless copy, so I bought Blown to Smithereens: The Best of The Smithereens recently. I had listened to it on youtube so many times that it now populates in the suggestion list no matter what I'm listening to.
