It’s only on the desktop version. On the home page (click on Years). In the spreadsheet, it won’t say NEW though, but you will see what albums that had no placement in the previous updates.

Thanks but for some reason it's not opening for me. I tried opening it in multiple different ways and it just shows up as gibberish or doesn't open at all. I was hoping that someone would have already posted the requested information (new additions to the Top 3000) here in the forums.

Check the spreadsheet - it'll say NEW if it wasn't there before.

Where is the spreadsheet for the All-time Top 3000 Albums? I looked around and couldn't find it.

Isn't it on the front page?

A belated thanks to Henrik for this awesome update. I love the expansion to 10,000 songs. Even though the order of songs 5,000-10,000 doesn't seem very meaningful given the small sample size of lists, this will be a great resource when getting into new artists. I look forward to pouring over this list. At first glance based on the new entries into the top 1,000 songs, it seems like the critics are going in the same direction as our forum polls, with pop and classic rock classics getting the biggest gains.

That list of albums entering the top 3000 is awesome. Ennio Morricone, modern classical, jazz, and foreign albums did really well.

Analyzing the update, Latin music has achieved many highlights, especially Argentina. And in certain way, Mexico and Spain. Brazil and Cuba are still understimated.

Haven't posted here in several years. Still have a look from time to time. Well done to Henrik for keeping this incredible site thriving, looks really great. I do have a question. I first stumbled across this site back in 2001 and I have a vague memory of the original background of the site being much darker. Just wondering if my memory is correct.

I am having some difficulty finding "The Harder They Come" on the album spreadsheet or elsewhere on the website. Please let me know where this album placed in the new rankings.

I'm pretty sure it was removed the update before this as it was deemed a compilation.

Well done Henrik on the update and the huge task in increasing the number of albums/songs over the period which cannot have been easy. I cannot find the topic where the list of new songs added is located so if there is a final list of all new songs added to this update that would be great.
Also kudos to all who contributed with lists and spreadsheets that helped facilitate this update!!

I finally managed to go through the whole top 10.000 songs. Not by listening, just looking at the list in detail. It has become quite the task, as it is not just an expansion, but there was a lot of shifting going on. It wasn't that rare to see songs jump or fall thousands of places. There is hardly any room to talk about songs I like or hate that made the list, but I have to mention that Deep Purple's Child of Time not only finally making the list, but as high as #2225 was really great. Similarly, personal top 10 song Hocus Pocus by Focus has become an official entry to, at the very respectable #3734. And it is always nice to see some unexpected songs suddenly show up. Never guessed Godzilla by Blue Öyster Cult would even become a bubbler, but there it is R #6067. I could easily go on.

A sad thing I noticed was the extreme decline of pre-rock era music. Almost everything from the fifties or earlier that isn't rock & roll fell and usually deeply too. The current song top 1000 now contains only 13 songs from before 1950 and most of those are hanging on the abyss. These are the lucky ones. Most songs from the era sunk like a very heavy stone. I know the advance of rock was a big thing, but the heavy punishment the pre-rock era got this time around is ridiculous. Of course no one is to blame, but I hope more all-inclusive lists will show up in the future or else the list will sadly become ignorant of over half a century of music.

Who took it's place? The usual people mostly. All the top rated artists gained even more ground. If you, like me, think that The Beatles were already favored more than necessary than this is not the update for you, as The Beatles not only gained a lot of songs, but even their minor works rose like there is no tomorrow, frequently jumping hundreds or thousands of places. Similarly acclaimed artists, like The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Prince and the like were blessed with many new entries and songs that shot up the list. If you are/ were a popular artist that also is a critical darling you really won big (BIG!) this time, as if these people needed more acclaim. Special mention should be made to Led Zeppelin. A couple of updates ago they were a band that scored highly on albums, but far less on songs. They gained a lot of new songs this time, perhaps more than any other artist (though I haven't checked this). Unsurprisingly, they rose on the artist list, into the top 10.

What you feel about all this is perhaps personal. My favorite artist, Bob Dylan, had similar results. I loved that most of his fan-favorite deep cuts have now made the list. To Ramona! Changing of the Guards! Ain't Talkin'! One More Cup of Coffee! Even 4th Time Around! On the one hand I am really happy to see them getting the recognition I feel they deserve. On the other hand, many people who are not quite as big a fan might feel the same about all these new entries as I feel about every Beatle song in existence seeming to find a place in the top 10.000.

On a lighter note, these two back to back made me laugh:
6894: Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow
6895: Mark Ronson – Bang Bang Bang

I've been slowly making my way through the songs one year at a time, starting with 2016. I'm now back to 2009. So many songs, but I'm finding so many new favorites, so it's worth it.

I just reached U2's Moment of Surrender, and I'm kind of curious, does the acclaimed music formula take into account the variety of sources? I wanted to see who shot this (rather boring) song up to such a relatively high level for its year and had a laugh when it was literally just the US and German Rolling Stone magazines. Does the fact that those 4 US Rolling Stones lists are essentially saying the same thing change anything about their weight?

I just find it funny that Rolling Stone seems absolutely convinced this is an all time great and no one else has even mentioned it in a similar breath. I wonder how many other songs have achieved a similar level of 'acclaim' through only a couple sources.
If I could begin to be, half of what you think of me,
I could do about anything, I could even learn how to love.

Yes, definitely. If those 6 lists (4 RS USA + 2 RS Ger) were from different sources, the song would be higher. The US and German RS magazines are counted as different entities though.

908 : Guns n Roses - Use Your Illusion II
909 : Guns n Roses - Use Your Illusion I

Noticed a couple others but forgot to write them down.

Aw, I actually really like that song. I think it's one of Bono's most moving performances. That is funny though about Rolling Stone. Their 2010 updated top-500 song list is how I found it in the first place, and I assumed Rolling Stone reflected the general consensus about the song at the time, so that may have helped me warm up to it at first.

Finally came across the highest-ranked one I had never heard before - #3321: Summertime by Billy Stewart. Most of the other new entries in the top 3,500 were very well known, and it seemed inevitable that a lot of them would reach those heights at some point.

Here's a great combo!:

1730. Four Tops "Bernadette"
1731. Billy Bragg "Levi Stubbs' Tears"

Just finished listening to everything in the top 5,000. I think it's a big improvement from previous versions. I love the rise of alternative rock especially. I think the most unfortunate trend is the steep decline of acts from the early 1960s like the Shirelles, but many more of my favorite songs have risen than fallen, and the reverse is generally true for those I don't care for.

The ”History” link is between ”Critics’ Lists” and ”About” on the AM main site (replacing ”Updates”). Not on mobile/small screens.
