Embarrassing songs by famous artists (trivia help)

Post by BleuPanda »

I'm throwing together a round of trivia for a party this weekend, and one of my categories is going to be awkward songs by otherwise famous artists. They will simply have to name the artist; I'd like to see if anyone has fun suggestions for songs that are of either notably low quality or sound nothing like the rest of the band's output. Some might be easy, but my main concern is to have the round be fun.

Ones I plan to include are:
The Laughing Gnome by David Bowie
Wild Honey Pie by The Beatles
The Fool on the Hill by Bjork
Wiggle Wiggle by Bob Dylan
Pop is Dead by Radiohead
Santa Baby by Taylor Swift
Signs of Life by Arcade Fire

I'm looking for help filling in a few spaces, but I also think it's a fun topic. I'd like to find a few more that fit in the 'unrecognizable' category.

I wanted to keep it for the Moderaly acclaimed song contest but it's perfect for you I think :-)

Since the party this weekend is a late Halloween thing, I'm almost tempted to make this round bad Christmas songs by famous artists.

NOW we're talking! I can only think of the good ones, but I'll bet there's some more stinkaroos out there (pretty much any cover of Santa Baby, really...)

If I change the theme to Christmas songs, I can probably skip the bad song theme. I just think it'd be funny because my other five rounds are Halloween/horror themed.

McCartney has more embarrassing songs - he recorded "Silly Love Songs" AND "Ebony and Ivory"!
A few suggestions:

The Beach Boys - You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Led Zeppelin - Hat Off to Roy Harper
Basically any song on Lula

Surprised nobody mentioned My Ding-a-ling yet.

Sticking to well known artists/bands :
Queen - Mustapha
Elvis Presley - There's No Room to Rhumba in a Sports Car
Moby - Feeling so Real
Beck - Satan Gave me a Taco
Stevie Wonder - A Seed's a star/Tree Medley (and most of Stevie Wonder's Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants )
The Clash - Hitsville UK
Anything from Devo's E-Z Listening Disc
Kiss - Odyssey

Is the goal really embarrassing songs or ones that don't sound like the usual output of the band ? Because if it's the latter, there are a few great choice for Beastie Boys like I Don't Know or Shambala or any of their punk songs.

ALL four tracks of Metal Machine Music by Lou Reed - if you can call any of it 'songs' is another issue...

Anyone mention I Left My Wallet in El Segundo by A Tribe Called Quest? There’s also pretty much anything by Prophets of Rage, a collective embarrassment for Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill.

I mean, I kinda like it, but it’s nowhere near his best song and doesn’t deserve to be his only #1 hit.

I'm afraid that this album could actually be added to AM in the future. It has appeared in at least five lists.

I'm surprised this thing hasn't been mentioned yet:
And actually, the album version features a line, edited out here, about the dude's siter which makes it even worse, unless you take it as black comedy.
