Re: AMF Weekly Chart 17.36
Are you guys just not gonna even give that track a chance? I know she isn't as famous, and maybe you genuinely dislike the song (which is fine and explains how I'm the only vote for it so far), but I feel it deserves just as much of your time as any of the other songs here.

Newcomers have a hard time in the Chart. See the amount of established acts - The National and The War on Drugs have had virtually all the tracks of their albums nominated with varying degrees of success. Next is LCD Soundsystem, you watch.StevieFan13 wrote:Are you guys just not gonna even give that track a chance? I do hope and trust that everyone is listening to the tracks at least once. If it were up to me, I would give a minimum of 3 mandatory votes to newcomers, but not possible to do.
But facing Bjork, St Vincent, Beck and their lot, it is going to be tough. I haven't had time to listen to it yet, but I guarantee that I will before I vote
Keep your hopes up, you never know - only 50-odd voters so far !

I think I nominated this earlier and it went out pretty quickly? In any case, secondedRomain wrote:Ibeyi - Deathless (feat. Kamasi Washington)

I might just nominate Samia again next week when this track inevitably falls off the map. This is bullshit, but I understand y'all are busy.

Re: AMF Weekly Chart 17.36
Finally got around to listening to the new songs this week and I voted for Samia, Stevie. I liked her song a lot (as I did the last one you nominated) and will start listening to more from her. To be honest, I don't understand why nobody else has voted for her. A talented female singer-songwriter is usually embraced by the forum, but then that brings me to my next point...StevieFan13 wrote:I might just nominate Samia again next week when this track inevitably falls off the map. I'm voting this week (mainly because Samia deserves another vote and "I used to" is one of my favorite songs of the year). But it's rare for me to vote anymore because I feel sad when established artists keep making it to the HOF, while new/unknown artists are typically eliminated quickly. (There isn't a single artist in this year's HOF that we all didn't know quite well beforehand.) I know we should all be voting for the songs we like the most, but is nobody finding new songs by new artists worthy of voting for - especially now that we're allowed 10 votes? With that said, I'm still very appreciative of spiritualized for putting this together each week, because I do listen to all the songs and it's a great way to discover new music. I just now rarely check the vote totals so I don't see the "rich getting richer."
Re: AMF Weekly Chart 17.36
You could vote for the 10 new songs each week, or for all the songs by new artists. That would be a perfectly legitimate way to express your preferences.jamieW wrote:Finally got around to listening to the new songs this week and I voted for Samia, Stevie. Re: AMF Weekly Chart 17.36
I was hoping when I posted that it wouldn't come across as prickly, but apparently it did. Obviously, I'm not saying everyone should only be voting for new songs. What I am saying is that I don't understand how no new songs/artists are making it to the HOF. If I were to only vote for new songs to make a point, that would be pretty disingenuous in itself. (Not to mention, a single vote wouldn't help any of them, as far behind as they usually are.) When I used to vote, it was typically half and half between new/established songs, varying from week to week. If it truly is that people just much prefer the songs by established artists, then I wouldn't expect anyone to vote otherwise and probably should've just kept quiet (which I will about it from here on out).DaveC wrote:You could vote for the 10 new songs each week, or for all the songs by new artists.
