Re: RIP Tom Petty
It's not been a good end to the weekend. Damn the Torpedoes and Full Moon Fever are in my top 300, and I'll be listening to them now.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
Fuck, this is awful. Too many of our beloved musicians are lost prematurely. Rest in peace.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
Heard that he's not officially dead yet according to TMZ but it's not looking good.

1:35 PM PT -- Sources tell us at 10:30 Monday morning a chaplain was called to Tom's hospital room. We're told the family has a do not resuscitate order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live throughout the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. handled the emergency.

Holy shit. Then...maybe? Hopefully? Oh man, I hope he pulls through.

Re: RIP Tom Petty
Sources say he probably won't make it through the day, so sadly it looks like while we were a bit preemptive, he's on the way out.

Yeah, this one is pretty hard. Tom Petty, alot like Billy Joel or Elton John, were just always on the radio when I was growing up. Everyone knows the hits.

So he was reported dead, then not dead?

Re: RIP Tom Petty
Now dead.
Re: RIP Tom Petty
Confirmed within the last few minutes (it's 11:30 pm Chicago time as I write this) - Tom Petty has passed away.
It would have been better if some media outlets hadn't prematurely put him in the ground hours ago. Everyone has to have THE SCOOP!!!, I guess. It was apparently obvious from the moment Petty was found that he wasn't going to make it, but the botched reporting really leaves a bad taste.
Really sad news (in the midst of a day that was already really, really shitty). R.I.P., T.P.

Like with Prince, a puzzling death turns out to be part of the opioid crisis.
