Sad news in the world of alt-rock today: Hüsker Dü singer and drummer Grant Hart has passed away:

Very sad news. Husker Du was one of my favorite bands as a teenager, and Mould and Hart were kind of like the punk Lennon and McCartney (both in terms of talent and the way their creative tension drove the band). That five-album run from Zen Arcade to Warehouse: Songs and Stories can stand up to anyone's.

This, following the news of Jessi Zazu only a few days earlier is depressing...

Had no idea that Grant had been ill for a while. Feels kinda bizzare now that I was only listening to random tracks from Hüsker Dü the other night. I generally enjoy all of the band's studio albums, though I've never given Grant's solo stuff a chance. Perhaps I'll change that this weekend. Cheers Grant.
