Sorry, Brad, I wanted to write some comments on this round 3 but I got no time (or inspiration) enough right now, so I'll save it for Round 4. Only a minor comment: we have in this first week three of the four remaining albums with a RYM rating higher of 4 (that nobody guessed), the three albums non sung in English, two Brazilian and one Japanese. Off the 6 albums with a rating higher than 4 only one has been eliminated so far, Built to Spill's "Perfect from Now On" (eliminated precisely by the album with a higher RYM rating, Angelo Badalamenti's "Soundtrack from Twin Peaks").

4. The Jam - Sound Affects (1980)
vs.
3. Prince & the Revolution - Parade (1986)

1. Novos Baianos - Acabou chorare (1972)
vs.
2. Jorge Ben - A Tábua de Esmeralda (1974)

6. Nilsson - Aerial Ballet (1968)
vs.
8. Labradford - Mi media naranja (1997)

7. Fishmans - Long Season (1996)
vs.
5. Various Artists - I'm Your Fan: The Songs of Leonard Cohen by... (1991)

Extremely difficult decisions on brackets 1 and 2, especially on the fratricide Brazilian battle of bracket 2.

Round 3 and the quality shows it. Only one weak competitor here, though I'm to blame for that one too.

2. The Jam - Sound Affects 6. vs. Prince & the Revolution - Parade
Sorry Prince, but this greatest hits album masquerading as a proper album wins out with some ease.

1. Novos Baianos - Acabou chorare vs. 7. Jorge Ben - A Tábua de Esmeralda
Though I've come to appreciate Jorge Ben's style more and more over the last few months, the sonic toy box that is Acabou chorare remains one of the best entries in this entire poll.

8. Nilsson - Aerial Ballet vs. 5. Labradford - Mi Media Naranja
Nilsson is the weak one. It really lucked out the first two rounds because it was matched against an album I liked even less. That luck stops here.

3. Fishmans - Long Season vs. 4. Various Artists - I'm Your Fan
The tightest choice. If it weren't for the toilet sounds in the middle of Long Season it would have been a more clean victory. Besides, there are quite a few stirring performances on I'm Your Fan, that show the mostly unrealized potential of a covers album.
