6. Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill vs. 4. The Kinks - Face To Face
I remain of the opinion that Can't But a Thrill is not top-level Steely Dan, despite some good songs. Face To Face is top-level The Kinks though.

5. Gal Costa - Fa-Tal-Gal a Todo Vapor vs. 2. Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Just like last round Fa-Tal-Gal a Todo Vapor is still an album for me that sometimes gets to me a lot, especially in the home stretch near the end, but there is too much there that simply doesn't do much for me (a bit like Can't Buy a Thrill). Favourite Worst Nightmare is perhaps just a little less unique, but just rocks my world until the last song.

7. The Afghan Whigs - Do to the Beast vs. 1. Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal
I had to readjust my opinion of Do to the Beast. I like it a lot more than before. Sadly, it's up against one of my favorite discoveries of this poll, so it still doesn't get my vote.

8. White Noise - An Electric Storm vs. 3. La Femme - Mystère
An Electric Storm is another album I like more than before, if not quite as much Do to the Beast. And like Afghan Whigs it simply faces too tough a competition.

Interesting. 3 of my top 5 Steely Dan songs are on this album. Kings is easily in my top 3 of theirs, but they don't play it live and I've never seen it mentioned anywhere, which surprises me because I think it's one of their most likable and accessible songs. I'll admit I'm not a jazz fan, so Steely Dan can be hit or miss for me, but I've seen them twice in concert, and Reelin' in the Years and Dirty Work were clear highlights of the shows (along with My Old School).

I haven't heard Face to Face besides Sunny Afternoon, so I'll abstain. Favourite Worst Nightmare is also great, and I think Fluorescent Adolescent is really underrated, but I haven't heard the Gal Costa.

I agree that Kings is one of the best tracks on the album.
I do like the jazzier efforts of Steely Dan, but my favorite work of theirs is actually the period between Can't Buy a Thrill and Aja, bar Katie Lied. I'm probably not your typical Steely Dan listener as Countdown to Ecstasy and The Royal Scam are my favorite albums by them.
