How a year on this forum has affected my tastes

Post by andyd1010 »

I've been on the forum for a year now, and the first thing I did a year ago was submit a list of my favorite artists. Since then the various discussions, games, tournaments, and polls have opened me up to a lot of new music and made me notice new things about some of the music I was already familiar with. Here's what I would submit if that poll were today, and how it differs from last year's list.

Cool list of new entries! The one that stuck out to me as the most interesting was First Aid Kit. They have some fantastic singles but no great albums in my opinion.

Stay Gold is a fantastic album! Really looking forward to their new one.

Andy, I think you need some Gram Parsons in your life!

Thanks. The Lion's Roar and Stay Gold will both make my top 500. There are definitely singles that stand out, especially Emmylou, but I like most of the songs. I love their harmonies.

I like most of what I've heard from Gram Parsons (solo, with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers), but while it was all pleasant, it didn't blow me away. Maybe I should revisit some of it.
