I must say that the quality of the songs in the chart this week has reached a new high, so much so I used all my 10 possible votes and couldn't vote for some really excellent songs (Do Make Say Think/Priests).
The chart is leaning heavily towards bass-heavy, melodic, mellow indie rock (Slowdive/Grizzly Bear/Alt-J/Future Islands/War on Drugs/5 Billion in Diamonds) with a few gems interspersed (Courtney Barrett/LCD Soundsystem/Foos) and that suits me just fine :)

Edit : Oh and Blanche's song is particularly good, although I could not stand this year's Eurovision's roster (no surprise here), this one is special and catchy.

I agree there are a lot of great songs on here; however, the variety is lacking a bit, as r&b has again taken a back seat and we've become dominated by whatever they're calling alt rock these days. I like it, it's in my wheelhouse, but just have noticed this as of late.

And good god I hate that Arcade Fire song.

I'm gonna commit AM heresy and say that there aren't too many Arcade Fire songs after Funeral that I've been crazy impressed by. Some stuff here and there, but nothing as good as Funeral.

StevieFan - I'm afraid we would probably disagree on a lot of things, but I am with you 100% on this one.

Yup not impressed with the latest song...I just finally got to listen to Reflektor. Good album, but not as good as their first. So with you both as well...

But no trap rap, and that surely can't be a bad thing...can it ?

I wouldn't say that. I think we have more common ground than you give us credit for. Certainly I don't mind hearing a lot of different perspectives.

Seconded. Thank you tons for not falling into the critics' trap and mistaking Bad and Boujee for high art.

Also: thanks to everyone who sent Green Light to the Hall of Fame! First song I've nominated to get that honor. Hopeful to see How to Boil an Egg follow.

Congrats. I've had a few over the years, and it feels great when it happens.

My favourite Arcade Fire album is Neon Bible though "Neighborhood #3" is still my jam. Reflektor is OK but doesn't beg for repeated listens IMHO.

My nomination this week:
Lorde - Perfect Places
