A lower profile week than last time, but I'm sure there are a few gems. As always, if I missed something you'd like to see mentioned, just let me know; I'm simply adding the albums that seem most relevant (which usually means albums that already have reviews on Metacritic or by bands that I find to be currently notable), and our definitions of what's a noteworthy release can be different.

New Releases: 5/12/2017

PWR BTTM - Pageant
Current Metacritic: 85
PWR BTTM's 2nd Studio Album

Girlpool - Powerplant

Paul Weller - A Kind Revolution
Current Metacritic: 86
Paul Weller's 13th Studio Album

I don't like the juxtaposition of a band named PWR BTTM and a picture of pinecones...

Early reviews for Paramore have now been added to Metacritic, and I've updated everything else.

Thanks for the Paul Weller info. Another release is Todd Rundgren's White Knight. Pitchfork's Sam Sodomsky gave it a meh 6.6 rating. I'm sure that some of the songs will grow for me as a Todd fan, but after listening to four of the songs, I can appreciate Sam's take. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/23123-white-knight/

So, uh, am I just supposed to ignore this PWR BTTM album now?

Anyone who chooses to skip out on it - it's a fine album, there's nothing too special you're missing out on regardless.

It's disappointing to hear about everything with that band, but I guess it's an important reminder that even the most seemingly vulnerable people can be abusive. Oh well; I'm sure some other explicitly genderqueer artist will pop up soon.

It's a shame they had to take a really awesome band name...

So, um, can I still listen to PWR BTTM's new album? :?

This has nothing to do with PWR BTTM, but I might as well mention it somewhere: today's my birthday!

Never would have guessed my headline album for a week would cease to exist by the end of it...

Yeah, that's what you get for not featuring Harry Styles.

Just jesting.
