Honorio, I didn't know you were THAT negative to hard rock. Only the distorted version (PJ Harvey) seems to work.

Well, I would like to think that I'm not completely negative to Metal or Hard Rock, although certainly is not my favourite style (Pop and Singer/Songwriter would be my choices as favourite styles even if I consider myself quite eclectic). You're right about my preference for the "distorted version," the approaches to the genre from outside its borders (in fact "Meet Ze Monsta" was my nomination, sadly facing a fantastic Cohen tune).

The problem is that I don't like too much the three Metal bands represented this week, in fact I could include them of the "I dislike that everyone else likes" thread:
- I don't particularly like the Rap Metal bands, even I acknowledge that Rage Against the Machine are the best by far and "Wake Up" one of their best songs (but with some flaws in my opinion like the "Kashmir" rip-off or the preachy lyrics).
- And I'm ambivalent about Metallica, it's a band I respect because of their music proficiency and the originality within the genre as creators of the Trash Metal sub-genre. But it's a band that I respect more than actually enjoy, for instance I like some aspects of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" like the alternating time signatures or the gradual speeding of the tempo but I don't like that much the guitars and vocals. And I can't help to feel that they are selling as new something old. Biased, I know... Specially after listening again to the song and realizing that maybe I should have put it higher.
- But I'm not going to change my mind about the Black Sabbath song, the archetypical filler song with a drum solo to showcase the virtuoso playing of the musicians that decades later end sounding more amateurish that they surely pretended then. #16 of the week for me. Like Metallica, I get why Black Sabbath are so acclaimed but it's not a band I enjoy (even if I like quite a lot the first half of "Paranoid").

Anyway, Henrik, it's no secret that I'm not a headbanger. Basically because I'm bald...
