A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (4.5) vs. Nas - Illmatic (4.0)
Evil matchup...

Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives (3.5) vs. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 (5.0)
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City (2.5) vs. Earl Sweatshirt - Doris (3.0)
Pete Rock & InI - Center of Attention (4.0) vs. Jay- Z - The Blueprint (3.5)

Call me old-fashioned or a dinosaur, but I find 90s hip-hop far more pleasant than anything that came out in the noughties (exception being Deltron's masterpiece in 2000). The beats were more boombastic, the samples (mainly jazz-based) were inventive and the lyrical content and vocal delivery more prominent than later attempts.

Maybe the other weeks in this contest will prove me wrong, but I doubt it so far...

Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize (3.0) vs. Eric B & Rakim - Paid in Full (7 Minutes of Madness) (4.0)
Eve - Let Me Blow Your Mind (5.0) vs. Nas - The World is Yours (4.0)
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five -The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel (4.0) vs. Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPoWeR (4.0)
Blackstreet - No Diggity (4.5) vs. Us3 - Cantaloop (5.0)
Probably the best example on how to use a jazz sample on a hip-hop song....

Foxy Brown - If I… (2.5)vs. Fugees - Ready or Not (4.5)
Kanye West - Monster (4.0) vs. Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy (2.0)
Notorious B.I.G. - Suicidal Thoughts (2.5)vs. OutKast - Elevators (Me and You) (3.0)
Linkin Park - Wretches and Kings (2.5) vs. Death Grips - I’ve Seen Footage (3.5)

I like the song it's just not a hip-hop song. It doesn't belong in this contest. The song and the group are R&B.

Yeah, I remain surprised that even after further examination got Crazy, Crazy in Love, and Umbrella taken out of the running, this slipped through the cracks.

I have never though of No Diggity as a hip-hop song. I knew it has a verse from Dre and Queen Pen but it's an R&B song. There were a lot of R&B songs in the 90s with hip-hop beats or a verse from a hip-hop artist but it's not a hip-hop song.

I'm sad I couldn't listen to more, the only new album I heard was Doris -- It has a great mood. One week isn't enough for me to listen to eight albums.

Albums
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City

Songs
Eric B & Rakim - Paid in Full (7 Minutes of Madness)
Nas - The World is Yours
This may insult some old-school hip-hop fans, but this was really close. I decided to choose Nas because "The World is Yours" is a classic hip-hop anthem.
Kendrick Lamar - HiiiPoWeR
My favorite hip-hop song ever.
Us3 - Cantaloop
Really great find!
Fugees - Ready or Not
Foxy's track with Jay-Z is better than this one.
Kanye West - Monster
No competition, really.
OutKast - Elevators (Me and You)
Death Grips - I’ve Seen Footage
My #2 hip-hop song vs. my #3...

I agree that "No Diggity" isn't really a hip-hop song, but it's too late to change it.

Ayy, look at that, I'm Unquestionable Presence! :D I thank y'all for this honor.

Thanks for the awesome list of albums to check out. (If I haven't really heard a lot of these albums, games like this gives me musical fatigue so I'm not voting.)

Also I just discovered that Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl" which also features Eve was produced by Dr. Dre! So literally "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" is the fraternal twin of "Rich Girl". A whole new thing to think about.
