AMF Weekly Chart 17.14

Post by spiritualized »

Here it is at last, instalment n° 14 of the Acclaimed Music Forum Chart !

Thank you, again, like every week, for your votes. Much better week on the vote front, just reaching 100.

Noteworthy :

:scared-shocked: Spoon take the top spot from Fleet Foxes with their new song from their just-released album. Laura Marling has the cheek to slip in between, taking full advantage of the Foxes daze.
:scared-shocked: The chart sees 3 new entries : Broken Social Scene's Halfway Home, Kendrick Llamar's HUMBLE and the surprising Melody's Echo Chamber's Cross my Heart
:scared-shocked: Sampha's Blood on Me makes it to the Hall of Fame !
:scared-shocked: Kicked out : Grandaddy - Brush with the Wild (4 weeks) and Sampha's What Shouldn't I Be (3 weeks)

Without further ado, here is your chart

Spoon - The Band

One of indie rock's premier names, evolving from a punk band with strong Pixies/Sonic Youth influences to embrace ever more intricate pop experiments.

The Song

Do I Have to Talk You Into It is a great rock song, but Spoon weave in electronica, disco and garage rock to lift it into another league. Britt Daniel’s searing voice has an elemental rock’n’roll feel, like John Lennon’s or Kurt Cobain’s, and the whole album is expertly conceived and put together (The Guardian)

Hope some more traction comes for that Samia track. She's a good friend of mine.

I'm nominating the song on its own merits, of course.

She's definitely talented. Great voice and a smart, wry sense of humor.

How can I listen to the New Pornographers when Raffi doesn't like them? (Or at least didn't. This was quite an amusing chain of events.)
