Top 50 Damon Albarn Songs (Voting starts today!)

Post by StevieFan13 »

Streets like a jungle, so call the police...

Anything solo, with Blur, or with Gorillaz counts (features I'm not aware of count too). Henrik pointed out a much easier way of scoring than what I previously had:
1-5: 8 points
6-10: 5 points
11-15: 3 points
16-20: 2 points
21-25: 1 point
Voting runs until Friday. There may or may not be a poll next week since I'm out in Israel for Passover, but if there is, it'll probably start a day late. Have fun!

Blur - For Tomorrow (16 points)
Blur - Out of Time (16 points)
Blur - Beetlebum (11 points)
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood (10 points)
Blur - Song 2 (10 points)
Gorillaz - El Mañana (8 points)
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc (8 points)
Blur - Girls & Boys (8 points)

I'll submit my own list after hearing more by Damon solo and the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I'm pretty sure which Blur and Gorillaz songs I'm gonna go with.

I'm afraid I'm not gonna make a list, but I do recommend "Africa Express Presents… Terry Riley's In C Mali", which is just one 40-minute song though. But a very nice piece of music.

Africa Express is a project by Damon Albarn, so surely is eligible. Here's the Pitchfork review:

I only add things if they're part of a list, so at the moment I'm afraid I'm not counting it.

Yes, I mean that's what I mean. I just made people aware that the project exists, if they didn't know that before.

Actually there's many projects by Albarn listed in Wikipedia, and I think most of them should be eligible for a poll like this.

You're welcome, Stevie! However, the scoring we discussed last week was
1-5: 4 points
6-10: 2 points
11-15: 1 points

With the new scoring #1 gets a score 1.6 times higher than #15, instead of 4 times higher with the previous scoring model. I would suggest some kind of skewed scale again so that the top songs get more points, relatively speaking.

In any case, thanks for running these polls, StevieFan! This is your game. Do it the way you want. I'm sure we will all happily vote and follow these polls anyhow.

Yeah, in and of itself it's eligible, I'm just not putting it on the list until someone puts it on one of theirs. In any case, thanks for bringing it up!

So much math! I have different scoring systems for top 50s and top 30s - the one you suggested works great for a top 30, but I needed a different one for a top 50.

If you want to stick with groups of five, then how about
1-5: 8 points
6-10: 5 points
11-15: 3 points
16-20: 2 points
21-25: 1 point

This poll's dangerously close to being ended early for lack of interest.

I just haven't had time to do one for this. I'm not very familiar with or fond of Albarn's songs outside of Gorillaz for the most part so I probably wouldn't make this poll in time.

How about extending the deadline instead? I would like to participate, but I probably won't be able to make it tomorrow.

I want to participate but I'm going through some 90s songs right now; plan to submit once I get through all of Blur's relevant stuff.

Happy to see them combined; I was planning to do this and Joy Division/New Order as combined groups when I was doing the artist polls. On my most recent artist list, Blur is my #54 artist and Gorillaz my #119, but combined they have enough points to be tied with Arcade Fire for #20.
