Prince and the Revolution | 1999 | Lady Cab Driver

(sorry, Moonbeam, I know you would have chosen 'Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)' but 'Lady Cab Driver' is a long time favourite of mine)

Also, for my Homework nomination, I want to state that I was also considering "Teachers" and "Oh Yeah;" they don't feel as substantial to me, but they've always been the ones that really clicked with me outside of the big hits. So if someone wants to convince me toward one of those, go ahead and let me know.

The question is: are you wanting to go towards one of those? Cause go for it.

I feel like whatever song I choose off Homework won't do well (we still don't have many electronic fans on the forum), so I might as well go with a personal favorite; the problem is choosing which song I truly prefer off a rather consistently strong album. Both my Daft Punk choices are also instrumental, which I think will be another strike against them (even if the bass on "Voyager" is to die for!). "Oh Yeah" might be the right pick, but I'll wait to switch.

One album I'm having a hard time with is White Light/White Heat; two of my favorite eligible songs are there, but I don't see the point in picking it when I'm fine with either option. By probably being the biggest fan of both "The Gift" and "Lady Godiva's Operation", I don't see a purpose in being the one to choose; yet it also feels wrong not to do so when I know I'm a big fan. I guess part of the propelling force of nominating here is to choose albums where you greatly prefer one option over the others.

I would have picked Rollin as well if only for the NME description of this song in the review for Homework.something in the tune of a relentless goblin crushing someone's skull with a club. Sounds exactly right :)

I'll get Suicide's "Girl" out of the way; listened to the album again yesterday, and it's definitely built around a certain sound instead of individual parts. Some of those parts still stick out, but these two particularly feel like a lead-in and then breather after "Frankie Teardrop." "Johnny" would have been my pick, but then I was looking into the album while listening and disqualified it...

Current entrants:
Group A (CLOSED):
Prince - Sign O' the Times - The Ballad of Dorothy Parker

Patti Smith - Horses - Birdland
Dr. Dre - The Chronic - Lyrical Gangbang

Only 16 spaces left; this is probably a good time to throw out suggestions for the remaining options if you've used up your nomination for the day, just so it doesn't drag out due to apathy.

I'm just hoping someone votes for another Smiths song. Preferably "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" or "You've Got Everything Now."

I was planning to give my next nominations to 'Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying' and 'All and Everyone' and I'm glad to see that someone else picked them.

So my new nomination is: Neil Young & Crazy Horse | Rust Never Sleeps | Thrasher

Related to Tricky I suggest Specials' "Blank Expression".
