Great choices, sixfeetaboveme! We share the same #1!

I haven't heard too many people praise their latest album, but I loved it. Both "In a World Possessed By the Human Mind" and "Hot Mic" made my top 10 songs list for 2016.

Only one I've really heard is Poets. When I was a teenager I got tired of MTV and started watching Muchmusic so I was able to discover Canadian acts like Matthew Good Band, Our Lady Peace, Tea Party, Moist. Poets was the only big TH song around that time.

I've been delving into the alternate universe of music that is Canadian music a good deal lately, but I'm afraid the only Tragically Hip songs I know are the famous live version of New Orleans is Sinking and Courage. I will say, however, that I've listened to a ton of Barenaked Ladies and love 'em (especially A, Alternative Girlfriend, and If I Had $1,000,000). I just consider them more of a jokey band than a straight band, kinda like They Might Be Giants.

As a dedicated HipHead of long standing, I have to note a tradition of the band to freestyle a lengthy instrumental or spoken word bridge during "New Orleans is Sinking" in concert; among the most famous of those is "Killer Whale Tank". Sometimes those bridges became a song themselves and usually can be identified by the chord structure. Two of those are "Nautical Disaster" and "At the Hundredth Meridian". So judging by your top three, you really like NOiS v2, NOiS v1 and NOiS v3. As does every true Hip fan.

For those who are curious about the Hip's discography, many of their songs history and lyrics are parsed at "A Museum After Dark"

Just for contrast my top ten would be

New Orleans is Sinking
Bobcaygeon
Fifty Mission Cap
Nautical Disaster
Coffee Girl
Wheat Kings
At the Hundredth Meridian
Gift Shop
Grace, Too
Blow at High Dough

So we share exactly half.

^^ lol yes omg i basically love all the songs that can be parsed into NOIS. It's just, like, put them all into a 15 minute song/jam and it would be perfect aha
