And thank you, too, FutureCritic for voting for "Love & Hate" and nearly pushing it into the top 100. Since my #1 of each year is always the song that meant the most to me personally, most years I'm the only one to vote for it and I'm not surprised. This is the first year I'm absolutely stunned by the lack of love for the title track from one of the year's most popular albums. (I'm hoping it's just a case of other tracks stealing its thunder, because it truly is a great (and very timely) song.

Nice to see Heathens crack the top 100. In retrospect, I probably should've placed The Dear Hunter's Gloria in my top spot. I can't get the plaintive, catchy chorus out of my head.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how many Lemonade songs make the list.

Never thought I'd see Thrice OR Volbeat on this list. Much less in the same year.

Great rollout so far and we're just getting started. I think this will be even more unpredictable than last year.

Beyonce was never one of my favorite artists before, but I was really impressed with Lemonade, especially All Night.

I'm going to sound a bit odd when I say this. But for me, Lemonade was a whole greater than the sum of its parts.


I like the album as a whole. I listened to it all the way through twice and very much enjoyed it both times. But at the same time, all the songs seem to blend together in my brain. It may as well be one 45 minute song rather than 12 shorter ones.

So, it will be odd seeing how they all place.

Three of my top ten gone here. "If I Was a Folkstar" is clearly better to me than "Frankie Sinatra", which benefited from being released as the lead single along with the announcement of the new album. Honestly I think Frankie Sinatra is one of the worst songs on Wildflower, though it sure is catchy.

The Santigold and Jessy Lanza songs are so underrated (though It Means I Love You actually did pretty well on the critics list).

Work and One Dance, gone! Work has to the biggest discrepancy between us and the critics.

Nice placement for Distant Sky. Beautiful track. Looking forward to seeing how well I Need You places with its four or five number one votes.

Hadn't noticed before that Can't Stop the Feeling was so low on the critic's list. With the whole poptimism thing going on I thought that would be the ultimate 2016 track to benefit, as it seems to have been the most ubiquitous and allround most well-liked pop song of the year. But even this forum gave it a much better ranking.

Same feeling here. I really can't figure out why the critics love "Work" and "One Dance" so much more. I'm glad we changed that.

I noticed one error, though. I'm not a fan of "Pink + White". (In fact, I'm also not a fan of the album, but that's another discussion.)

In other news, I think the top 5 are going to be pretty obvious. Also, Radiohead's "Present Tense" is the biggest leap from outside the critics' top 100.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of four of the possible Top 5.

EDIT: No wait. I remember the fifth.

My only hope is "Ultralight Beam" doesn't win. It's an okay song but not worthy of the top spot.

It's Radiohead, Kanye, Mitski, Solange, or Bowie. I'm thinking Radiohead with Bowie or Kanye at #2.

Considering that I don't really care for hip hop/gospel and my list was chock full of prog rock that no one cares about (Ingranaggi della Valle, anyone?), it's pretty amazing that Ultralight Beam nabbed my top spot. That keyboard really stirs the soul though.

As for Drone Bomb Me, I admire the lyrics but can't really get into the music, at least not yet. It's an important topic to be sure though, as Obama's drone strikes (which likely killed well over a 100 civilians) were discussed very little in the US.

After this time, my stance on "Formation" changed major time; it may be my #1 song of the year. However, I do not care for "Ultralight Beams" at all. It's not even good. Why do people like it this much? It's seriously weak Kanye. This album was weak Kanye.

Beautiful presentation, notbrianeno! I adored each and every gif.

My only qualm is not with the rollout, but with the results. Unfortunately, the forum didn't enjoy "Work" quite as much as I did (number five for the year). Essentially defines "perfect pop song" to my ears, in spite of an uncharacteristically dull Drake feature (that I still sing along to every time I hear it ). On the other hand, there was a lot for me to celebrate, like a solid finish for my number one, "Nights". Also, already discovering some gems from the songs here I didn't previously know.

Can't wait to see the album results.

Alright. No problem with "Lazarus" winning. After this year, it seems right.

I also motion that we name the eligibility rule for EOY the "Lazarus" clause now. If a song came out the year prior as a single and was included on an album in the current year, but NOT on last year's EOY, then it is eligible for the current year EOY.

Also, relistening to Lemonade, "Sorry" and "Freedom" seem the most like the standout tracks. Though the album altogether is still the way to go.

Lots of fun looking at this list! Hard to argue with the top picks.
