AMF Chart Week 44

Post by spiritualized » Thu Nov 03, 2016 3:41 pm

Bonjour à tous et toutes,

The results are in for this week and we have yet another NEW number one - in the person of 82 yo Leonard Cohen. Who said you needed to be young to be at the top ?
The usual suspects have all taken a hit, with only Frank Ocean surviving the usually fatal 1st week.
Very few nominations made it this week and for this I am truly sorry - 6 new entries from the Mcch and a triplet of seconding nominations meant that a few of your favourite tracks didn't make it. Rejoice though, you can nominate them again.

Image

On the n°1 song itself : "The first sound Leonard Cohen makes on his new album is a nanosecond's rush of labored air. It's not a wheeze, exactly, or a hiccup. But it's not a singer's note, either. The singing (such as it is) soon follows, and the 82-year-old's somber tone signals that matters of grave import are about to be discussed. He's making an inquiry into the peculiar strain of creeping soul distress, both personal and universal, that he's been diagnosing since at least 1992's The Future" (NPR Music)

On the artist (as if...) : "One of the most fascinating and enigmatic -- if not the most successful -- singer/songwriters of the late '60s, Leonard Cohen has retained an audience across six decades of music-making, interrupted by various digressions into personal and creative exploration, all of which have only added to the mystique surrounding him. Second only to Bob Dylan (and perhaps Paul Simon), he commands the attention of critics and younger musicians more firmly than any other musical figure from the '60s who is still working in the 21st century, which is all the more remarkable an achievement for someone who didn't even aspire to a musical career until he was in his thirties." (Allmusic)

This week's chart : Enjoy !

Thanks Spiritualized pour continuer this game.

One question: combien de nominations peut-on faire par semaine ?

My nomination:
Guillaume Perret - Heavy Dance (I fall in love with this wonderful piece of music).

As many as you want. But it's going to be rare that your second nomination will make it to the chart, unless, like last week, your second nomination is seconded :P
There were rules about nominating in the previous instalment, but I am not too keen on too many rules. Complicates things and creates conflict or misunderstandings.

My nomination for next week goes to Karma To Burn - Uccidendo Un Sogno.
Doesn't stand a chance with this crowd, but it'll be good to have a basic rawk song in the chart.

I nominate "Make the World" by Lee Fields and the Expressions.

Nice old-school soul. Definitely recommended if you like Michael Kiwanuka's newest album.
