Miles Davis - On the Corner
This Heat - Deceit
It's hard to vote against Julia Holter, but Deceit is a truly great album. I would take either over the two in the first match.

Four albums I LOVE in the first two matchups and four albums I don't particularly care for in the other two.

I'm aware I haven't picked the "cool" choices, especially on the first two brackets. But, what can I do? I simply picked the ones I enjoyed the most...

Re: Moderately Acclaimed Albums 7 - Round 1.14
1. Yes - Fragile vs. Miles Davis - On the Corner
I have a love/hate relationship with either of these two records. Prog-rock interests me up to the point where I focus on basslines and singing. Then it's "run for cover". Fragile falls in that category, I am afraid. I am not a jazzman either, although if I listen to any jazz, Miles Davis is a staple artist.
2.Julia Holter - Ekstasis vs. This Heat - Deceit
I'm not enamored with Julia Holter, who I more or less discovered here, as much as some of the forumers. I find her music rather bland. This Heat, on the other hand, shakes the tree enough for me to pay attention
3. Blink-182 - Enema of the State vs.Robert Palmer - Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley
Fun record vs 80s run-of-the-mill record. No contest
4. The Wet Secrets - Rock Fantasy vs.Van Morrison - Common One

Re: Moderately Acclaimed Albums 7 - Round 1.14
This might be the first week of the tourney where I've actually been able to make time to listen to all eight of the albums.
1.Yes - Fragile vs. Miles Davis - On the Corner
As much as I may enjoy "Roundabout", there's something about the bizarre rhythms of On the Corner that I can't resist.
2. Julia Holter - Ekstasis vs.This Heat - Deceit
Deceit has always struck me as interesting, but Julia Holter's a top ten artist of all time for me.
3. Blink-182 - Enema of the State vs.Robert Palmer - Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley
I should have known that nominating a Blink album wouldn't have gone over well on this forum, but I'd have hoped that my beloved vaguely-generic pop-rock from the 90s could beat vaguely-generic pop-rock from the 70s. Ah well.
4.The Wet Secrets - Rock Fantasy vs. Van Morrison - Common One
An admittedly nice garage album versus my favorite new Van Morrison discovery since St. Dominic's Preview?

I really like the first 4 on here.
On the Corner beats Fragile
Deceit beats Ekstasis (though extremely painful to not vote for Julia Holter)
